    The 5.315 rod keeps the piston pin out of the oil ring grooves. Helps to keep from using oil.

    I dont have the experience you are looking for, but any imbalance in the crank multiplies exponentialy with RPM. If you took a fair amount of material off probly needs rebalance.

    For a monte carlo bar you probly want the weight of the car resting on the suspension...like it would be sitting on its wheels. I'm not sure of a good place to do this with jackstands. Would be better to use ramps. Why do you need to have it off the ground anyways?

    User is correct about boreing, only done for rebuilds, not power. 331's and 347's are .030 over bore too. a 302 has a 3" stroke, 331--3.25" stroke, and 347--3.4" stroke. 331/347 usually utilize a 5.4" rod where 302 use a 5.095 I believe. The stroke does not effect the crank stregth. However...

    Honestly, I dont think you'll get 400 hp with the stock cam. But definatly possible with a H/C/I swap.
