    4.2 Intake Manifold need help

^^this is NOT your problem. Using a larger size wire for a low voltage sensor isn't going to CAUSE the sensor to read incorrectly. IMO your problem is else where. NOTE; it is normal for the engine load PID to be around 20% when the motor is idling. Suggestion. Trouble shoot this issue by...

Do you still have the old transmission? I suspect that the number of teeth for the OSS sensor is different between the two transmissions. How to find out? Remove the OSS speed sensor and count the number of teeth seen through the hole.

    1999 Mustang GT

A non functioning FRPS is a "crank with no start sensor". The fuel trims values are not useable when there's a FRPS sensor. Focus first on the FRPS sensor DTC. Focus on the wiring to/from the sensor first. Also note that the O2 sensors are not used while the motor is starting while in "open...

    30% Short Term Fuel Trim

When the motor is not running the PCM uses a sky high STFT as part of the "fuel enrichment" motor starting strategy. So having a very high STFT value may not be a "problem". So the short answer to your question is, "the motor is not running lean at the time". But as far as the PCM is concerned...

Need Help! High idle after pressing gas then slowly calms down. 2004 GT

There must be 10,000 or more threads about a "hanging" idle similar to your description. An idle "hanging" around 1000-1200 RPMs and then dropping to a slow idle (500-600) is normal behavior. The behavior is designed in place for SMOG reasons as well making the hydro boost brakes work...

    Rough/stumbling idle

IMO. IF you are blowing fuse F2.8 THEN your only problem is not a bad PCM. The odds favor a wring fault. Likely a short to ground. However it could also be a bad sensor with an internal resistance that is too low. If this were my car one of the first places I would look is wires touching...

If asking for an educated guess: check for vacuum leak Is the intake vacuum reference line connected to the fuel rail pressure sensor (FRPS) connected and leak free? What is the fuel pressure as reported by the PCM? check to see IF the MAF sensor is sending "reasonable" values. Does the MAF...

    Replaced TPS, four dead cylinders

I have helped someone with a 4V DOHC with fuel injector "issues". It turned out that one of the fuel injectors pig tails got pinched between the COP cover plates. The fuel injector was grounding out to the motor via the pinched wire.

    Engine sound... Pinging?

If you believe that any "in tank" cleaner will always restore fuel injector performance your understanding of the issues and limitations of the "fix" are flawed. Your dilemma is that you want to know WHY your motor is pinging. The reported symptoms would tend to indicate there maybe a lean...

    Anti-theft mode

I once own a 1996 Mustang GT that couldn't be driven after disconnecting the battery. It would die as soon as it was put into drive. Impossible to even get it out of the driveway. The solution? Allow the PCM to re-lean the IAC idle trim values. Once done the car drove normally until the...

Engine Several Spun Bearings 99’ V6 Mustang help

My recommendation. Don't dig yourself into a deeper hole by attempting a V8 swap. There is way more to it for a modern PCM controlled car than older Mustangs. Stay with the V6 that the car came with. Consider getting a compatible salvage yard motor and do the V6 motor swap/repair yourself...

99 mustang cranks no start. Help!!!

If this were my car the first thing I would check are the ground wires (black with white stripe) that go around the battery and connect to the radiator core supports.

    Engine sound... Pinging?

To me I see evidence of "carbon tracking" on 2, 3, and 5. I can't see the others. However the fact the problem did not go away with new plugs and wires likely says that the carbon tracking wasn't the primary cause. What has been done to rule out excessive carbon deposits in the combustion...

The GM doesn't use an ECT (engine coolant temperature). It uses a CHT (cylinder head temperature) sensor instead. The Mustang GT uses an ECT and does not use a CHT. If you were to purchase an intake manifold for a late model GM you MIGHT find the spot for the boss where the ECT is drilled and...

    98 GT ALT Fuse blowing

IMO it's highly unlikely. If this were my car I would look for a cause outside of the alternator. IMO the possibility of excessive voltage drop should be ruled out. For example voltage drop in: alternator case ground to battery negative alternator main B+ terminal to battery positive...
