what's the horsepower differences betweem 306/331's

A good rule of thumb is one hp per cubic inch extra. So, on average, a 331 will make 25 more hp than a comparable 306. But, it all depends on the combination. A properly setup 306 can easily outpower a mismatched 331 combo. I know this from experience. :D

    Hooker mufflers & offroad

I ran 2 1/2" Aerochambers for six years. They were a nice sounding muffler with my various exhaust combinations (1 5/8" shorties, 1 5/8" longtubes, 1 3/4" longtubes). I switched to 3" Dynomax Ultraflos and a 3" X a month ago. The Ultraflos are a little bassier sounding.

    Re-wiring help

Hmmm, I would unhook it and see if anything stops working before you hack it off. Just to be sure. You never know with Ford. On power option cars it's for the locks and windows but on non-power option cars Ford may have hooked it to the freakin' dash lights.

Yep, that's the circuit breaker for the power windows and locks.

    Re-wiring help

The thing on the end is the circuit breaker. Don't get rid of it unless you put another one inline.

Anyone using the Holley Systemax II intake?

Absolutely easier than the TFS intake. The Holley upper is the easiest I've ever messed with (stock, Cobra, and Track Heat). The TFS upper is HUGE and the rear drivers side bolt is a pita. BTW, I don't install the middle passenger side stud and nut on the Holley. I've been running it like...

Anyone using the Holley Systemax II intake?

I've had no issues with my Holley. I've had the upper on and off five or six times without problems. It's far easier to install than the Track Heat I had previously. Sorry to hear yours is givng you problems. It's an excellent performing intake on blown and strong NA motors.

    4.10 gearsw/ n-91 cam and tremec 3550

You might start in second gear when your just cruising around the street but at the track you'll launch in first. You want all that gear to get you out of the hole.

    I agree.

    New Trick Flow intake

All aftermarket companies pull that kind of crap. Edelbrock did the same thing with the RPM 2. It gets annoying but it's just part of the business. And I agree, that thing is ugly. Looks pretty sweet on the inside but it's butt ugly outside.

    Got my Comp custom cam

230+ duration is not a big deal. My FTI hydraulic roller is in the mid 230s/low 240s and it's very streetable in a 306.

    Got my Comp custom cam

You can't make a generalization like that. It all depends on the ramp rates.

    injector size?

The Performer RPM seems to be the intake of choice for a mild AFR 165 motor.
  17. 86Cobra

    injector size?

Yeah, I mentioned that in my post. 165s have a 1.90 intake valve and 185s have a 2.02. Yes it's not that hard to do. But, most people adding heads to a stock shortblock don't want to/can't/or won't deal with that.

    injector size?

Do you realize that the only differences between 165s and 185s are a larger intake port and intake valve? The exhaust port and valve are the same. Also, the intake port cross section on AFR 185s is only slightly larger than the intake port on TFS TWs and they both have 2.02" intake valves...

    injector size?

AFR 185s kill low end torque. Yeah right. More inexperienced internet wisdom at work. BTW, I recently stepped up to 36 lb injectors in my NA 306. Also, ditch the spyder. CHP just wants to sell you their crap. You'll be much happier with a Holley or RPM II.

    Painless Wiring .... Quick Question.

It runs about $475 through Summit. I got it for a lot less through a buddy's shop.
