Oh $H!7 Something popped (electrical) car died and smoked, won't crank now

I have received several request to post up a recap...so here it is from the middle of page 3, plus some new items (in bold): To review the situation: something blew/popped, smoked when hood closed isolated cause: wire on MAF connector was being cut by metal it was rubbing against and in...

Oh $H!7 Something popped (electrical) car died and smoked, won't crank now

Well, TMOSS was right about the price - $2.99 @ O'Reilly's Auto Parts. Looks good to me: Larger (630x1024) Good point HISSIN - I'll make sure it works before I test it out on something that may or may not be working properly. Now if the stupid rain would stop...don't think testing...

Oh $H!7 Something popped (electrical) car died and smoked, won't crank now

Found this on O'Reilly's website: CALTERM - TEST LIGHT (6/12V TEST LIGHT) Part No: 66316 4.99 So I guess I will check them out first, then I can hit up Advance Auto Parts if the O'Reilly part looks like crap. Wish me luck. Will post later how the testing goes.

Oh $H!7 Something popped (electrical) car died and smoked, won't crank now

Eagerly waiting until I get off work, I browsed Advance Auto Part's website and found the only test light listed...for $10.99. Pic is below. Any other place I should try or particular brand that is going to be $3 (or at least cheaper than the AAParts one)?

    PLEASE HELP!!!! Overheating still!!!!

Heh, even my stock plastic fan with the new clutch is loud...but as my exhaust continues to get louder, the fan noise gets covered up...and if I get the car running again, I am betting the blower will be a bit louder than the fan.

Thanks! I'll get down to this tonight and post up results - hopefully good news, but any progress is progress I guess.

Oh $H!7 Something popped (electrical) car died and smoked, won't crank now

Yeah, I know Tom is right. I am going to pick up a test light today and hopefully spend this evening checking each of those fusable links again to be certain. I am praying it is as simple as one of them. Question on the test light: So I hook the ground up to any ground, then use the "pick"...

Purpose of H or X crossover pipe in exhaust. Problem if I run straight duals???

The point of the crossover is to equalize the pressure. It is supposed to allow for more efficient scavenging of exhaust from both sides of the block. Not sure how much difference in power it provides though, but I know that it was intended to run with a crossover, so I will keep mine that way...

How to identify what MAF and Injectors?

I have an aftermarket tuner - PMS. And Pro-M's are generally considered far more accurate, especially if you are blown or not using the factory airbox (due to the ability to measure 360*, unlike the C&L units). I guess I mispoke...or something to that extent. I guess "tricking" the EEC is...

Ported Cobra Intake Manifold Vs. TMOSS lower

Depends on how well it was ported. TMOSS does a good job with his, and I know he will port Cobras too. You may want to ask the man himself before you go buying it. My bet is that if there are any gains, it will not be worth the time it takes to swap it in.

    autozone clutch cable any good?

Notice, I do not say it is a STOCK EQUIVALENT part...I was simply saying that any generic brand "stock replacement" part that meets OEM standards, is about the same as the next one. I was not saying that an off-brand Autozone or Napa part is going to be as good as (in terms of...

    autozone clutch cable any good?

HISSIN has a good point about the quadrant and teeth...my quadrant was toast when I was having pedal issues. I thought it was the clutch at first, but I replaced with a Steeda quadrant and the issues went away...I should've stuck with it like that, but replaced with an adjustable Steeda cable...

TT Ford GT Vs 03 Cobra

Yeah, they both need to learn to drive...and for F***'s sake, spend the $29.95 to get rid of the ad on the video editor, lol. In any event, both nice cars. I've still yet to see a GT in person. Maybe I can find one after I've found my electrical problem and he can beat me, lol.

At what point do you need to consider a good tune?

Simple answer would be whenever you begin to experience driveability problems or whenever you want to get more power out of your present setup. Some would say that after any change to intake or exhaust (whether it be CAI, new MAF, turbos, supercharger, nitrous, throttle body, intake...

beer+ pizza reward for your help

Good luck. As others have said, it can take some force and some repeated tries. Depends on how long it has been since they have been pulled apart and what type of conditions they have seen...that and they like to be a pain.

cleaning injectors and openin up stock mass air meter?

Ditto on the MAF. I recall reading in an old magazine that people used to port their MAF's, but the proper thing to do is buy a new one...go Pro-M for a good piece. As for the injectors, you can pay a shop to do it...not sure how much it will cost or if it is worth it. A quick freshen up of...

How to identify what MAF and Injectors?

Good MAF's don't "trick" the EEC...C&L does, but get a good Pro-M unit with new electronics and you will get a solid, accurate read to match your injectors. Sure, it costs more, but as they say, you get what you pay for.
