    Engine Threw A Rod

flywheel.....but again, don't use those numbers as gospel. It isn't necessarily horsepower so much that kills them, it's RPM, timing and fuel that usually sends them south. How much power do you plan on making?

    Engine Assemble Pics

Only reason I ask, is because I'm likely going to have to pull and tear my 331 down over this winter and have it rebalanced because I suspect Coast High Performance didn't perform these steps during their "free" balance that was included in the price of my rotating assembly. Got a seriously...

    Engine Assemble Pics

Very good. Should run smooth as silk. I'll assume the clutch was included in that balance as well?

    Engine Threw A Rod

There's a lot of mixed opinions on modular block ratings, but I haven't seen one yet that's been rated less than 600hp. Keep the timing on the conservative side and make sure your fuel system is up to snuff and the block will take more than that. That's probably all your internals are rated...

    Engine Assemble Pics

Very nice. I hope you had it balanced as an assembled unit....including the balancer and the flywheel. This is really the best way to do it.

    Bearings Look Bad? Advice :(

If you're going to reuse the Pistons, make sure you match each one up to the cylinder you removed them from. They will have worn to that particular cylinder. And it wouldn't hurt to at least re-ring them. If the cam/crank bearings are that badly worn, the rings have taken their fair share too...

Engine What Are These Threaded Oil Holes?

Drivers side is the oil pressure sending unit. I can't be 100% certain from memory, but I want to say the passenger side is for a ground strap, or some sort of mounting bracket?

    Engine Bucking While In Gear.

@Frank M. is this car otherwise stock? I know you stated you just picked it up....so is that to say it's always run this way since you owned it? How are you certain that it's overheating? Are you just going by the stock dummy gauge, or have you got a quality temperature gauge to measure your...

    Engine Bucking While In Gear.

Check the the distributor was stabbed correctly and verify your timing. Contrary to popular belief, you can stab the distributor one or two teeth off. Down on power and hot sounds like it may be too far retarded. With the distributor fully seated, ensure that the rotor is pointing somewhere...

Easy fix, but not a cheap one unfortunately.

Can't ask for a much nicer back drop than that.

    It's Done!

Yep, and not a healthy one at that. Whines like crazy in all but 4th gear (direct drive).....but it sounded like that before I installed the Vortech and stuffed 14psi through it. I'll be honest though, I don't normally beat on it. Since the Vortech, I don't power shift anymore. Half because...

    It's Done!

As @A5literMan stated, hard launches and traction are what break these T5's. I will also add, that power shifting (especially 3rd gear) does them no favours either. These seem to take moderate, to high horsepower levels pretty well, as long as the torque has somewhere to go. I'm putting in...

    Rear End Change

Committing this post to memory when I finally decide to leave the 80's behind and park a '15-up in my driveway. ;)

    Rear End Change

If you've got a competent dealer near you, you could have them reflash the ECU for the new gear changes as well. ....but, depending on what they want to change for the service, it may end up covering a good portion of what you would pay for a hand held like an SCT X4 or equivalent tuner.

    Engine New Block

If you're shooting for 450rwhp N/A hour had better go with a 351W block, stroke it a don't skimp on the top end. That's a lot to shoot for without a power adder.

    Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

I'm not sure what you're saying here? Why would you think the TPS has anything to do with your bypass valve? The bypass valve is vacuum operated and has nothing at all to do with the throttle position? You could, if you were ginger enough with the accelerator pedal bring the engine all the...
