Steel shavings in oil...what to do?

Thanks for the good idea....I didn't think about that but that would collect the extra stuff floating around. Too bad Steeda only has for 79-95. I'll have to give them a call to see if of the off chance it might work on a 2001.

    rear control arm

Yea, i've heard it adjusts the pinion angle which will translate to better times at the track. I don't do the track so I got non-adjustables. I've been noticing that my 3.73s are starting to whine a little and wonder if I had gotten adjustables if I could adjust the angle to reduce the whine...

Just got MM Subframes welded in yesterday & WOW...

Full length subs are a great place to start getting things more solid. All these other things can be pretty much added whenever you have an extra $250 a pop for the next part. Over time they will add up and make a big difference on a vert. Not as big a difference on a hardtop.

Just got MM Subframes welded in yesterday & WOW...

H&R SS will definitely drop you lower. May need to consider bumpsteer kit. One of the reasons I chose the Pro-kit is that they were tuned for Vert suspension. I expect that our springs are heavier in back to take into acct the extra couple of hundred pounds. I'm sure that there are folks that...

Just got MM Subframes welded in yesterday & WOW...

If you don't already have a strut tower brace I'd get one. I had some flexing from the front but once I got my Steeda STB installed it went away. Made the front end more response especially in the turns. This is a nice inexpensive mod that makes a big difference on a vert. I installed my MM...

Steel shavings in oil...what to do?

Yea, I just got a call this week to extend my warranty. I wonder if engine mods will nullify a warranty. I don't have anything done to the engine internals and don't plan to. If the engine is working ok I wonder if they'd replace it just due to the shavings. It seems to be working fine but...

    Accufab 75mm T/B vs. BBK 75mm

I had a Accufab 70mm and a BBK 75mm. I decided to go with the Accufab because it made less noise and looks a heck of a lot better.

Steel shavings in oil...what to do?

Yea, I'm hoping that the shavings are just residual from the beating it took before I bought it. I plan to put in a Mobile 1 oil filter at the next oil change hoping that maybe it catches more of the shavings. The 2nd oil change I did on the car did have less shavings but I was hoping there'd...

Steel shavings in oil...what to do?

Warranty is expired. I don't know how the guy drove it before me. It had 32,000 miles on it when I bought it. It was bought new at the end of 2000 and its a 2001 so the warranty expired last fall.

Steel shavings in oil...what to do?

I bought my Stang used this summer. After 3 months I changed the oil and noticed small bits of steel in oil when I did an oil change. I put in a new Motorcraft filter and changed the oil. 3 months laters I changed the oil again hoping not to see as many steel shavings but there were still...

    rear control arm

I did my 01 in my garage with jack stands. The lower ones were cake to put in. The uppers were a PITA. The toughest part with the uppers were to remove the bushings from the top of the differential. Since I had everything ripped apart anyways I also installed Pro-kit springs and Bilstein...

Where is tis noise coming from?

Is there somewhere that has the details on the TSB you mentioned? I clicked on the link in your note but it only took me to place that sells engines.

Coupe or Convertible. Which is stiffer?

Oh yea, I think the back-end of the verts can be a little more unstable due to the extra weight back there. I added Steeda UCA's and LCA's which really locked down the rear axle and made it more predictable at higher speeds in the turns.

Coupe or Convertible. Which is stiffer?

I bought by 01 Vert used with 35,000 miles. Body was real loose which was noticeable going over RR tracks and over bumps in corners. Added strut tower brace and MM full length subframe connectors (welded) and it helped stability a ton. It's still not as tight as a hardtop but it's a lot...

H&R SuperSports or Steeda Sports for Vert

I looked over all the springs and decided to get the Eibach Pro-kit springs since they were the only ones that had spring rates specifically for verts. I only wanted a 1" drop to avoid any scraping or bump-steer hassles. The Pro-kits made a nice difference especially in the corners but only...

    Thoughts on hood "scoop"

Yea, I tried to remove mine. I thought that if there were only a few holes I'd just plug with with plastic plugs or something. When I pulled the hood scoop off I found that not only were there many more holes then I expected but also odd shaped ones as well (they are not all round). I also...

    Magnaflow mufflers

I've had both catbacks on my Stang. I also have the catted x-pipe. I found that the magnaflows are about 2x louder then stock. Very nice. The magnapacks are about 4x louder then stock. Too loud for my tastes but a real head turner. Excellent quality with all their products.

    Winter snow brings GT woes...

I agree with the Oilers fan. If anyone knows about driving in the ugly stuff it's the guys from the Great White North. I've had to drive every now and then in then in the high country in Colorado when the weather was bad and have used chains on rear drive cars. It worked really well...

Bad drone with Magnaflow and DrGas, what should I get?

I installed the bassani baffles and they helped to tone down the drone. I'm going to experiment with different sound material in the baffles to see if I can get them a little quieter. Before I got the baffles I was thinking about trying some Dynomax race bullets that might fit in the space of...

C&L MAF, Inlet tube, Intake Plenum, and BBK t/b

FYI...you'll probably wind up running lean. I wound up running lean with similar mods and SES light got thrown. I put the stock MAF back on (with K&N filter inside and no silencer). I plan to put MAF back on when I get a tune this spring.
