    Yeah, that may have done it. 31 spline axles are a good upgrade, but if your replacing the diff as well, go with something more robust than a trac-lok.

    Sounds to me like you snapped an axle. It's odd that you would snap one with relatively few mods (i.e. no power adder). What were you doing when it went?

    Paul, It looks and sounds like you were shifting out of 1st pretty quick (~2800 rpm). Are you really having that much of a problem with traction down low? It seems to me that even staying in 1st for a little longer at less than WOT would be worth it to get deeper into the power band.

    31 spline axels whats involved?

    To clarify, it's any F-series with an 8.8. Lots of F250's came with a bigger axle than that. Look for a late 90's explorer axle with the track-loc. It's still 31 spline and usually easier to find.
