87 roller motor in a ii

from what I've read about other people's experience, the E303 would work great... The B303 doesn't work well unless you have better flowing heads like at least the GT40 heads. A lot of people have said you actually loose power going to the B303 with stock heads. The carb will be happy...

Building up a Carbed 2.3 Turbo

You can either seriously port the head and run lower boost, which is more street fuel friendly, or just port match and make up for the poor flow with boost which increases the octane requirement. So far I've only driven my new 2.3L Turbo at 9psi of boost, but my rear-end (butt) tells me it's...

Turbo Swap Completed! One problem remains...

You're probably right about the faulty PCV valve. I put a one-way valve in line with mine so I wouldn't have to put up with leaking PCV valves again and it worked great.

    More Q's: 351w'ers, brackets/pulleys?

The pulleys are the same set I have and I'd ASSUME the bracket set is correct. I would've responded earlier, but I remember having so much trouble finding pulleys and brackets that I ended buying the March pulleys and then spending hours in a junkyard finding the right alternator bracket.

    Hello Stangnet!!

Air Research = Garrett, just like IHI = Warner Ishi That does work out real nice for the MX6 since the stock takeoff IHI can be found pretty cheap. Nice to hear more good words on the SZ50 tires too...I just bought a set for my Eclipse and just need to put them on. Washington = rain.

Our motor only weights 10lbs lighter than the 5.0??

I haven't believed any of the weights I've read on the internet for a long time. I can lift an assembled 2.3L shortblock to put it on an engine stand by myself. With one other person, I've lifted an assembled 2.3L N/A into the back of a Volkswagon Rabbit. I struggle to even drag around a...

    Hello Stangnet!!

Actually, the turbo look like a Garrett T03, not an IHI. If it's an 87 or 88 T-Bird, then it's already had a turbo upgrade done to it.

    Turbo Pinto Vid..

Damn...that's the video that inspired me to build my first 2.3L Turbo Mustang II, 5 years ago!!!

Building up a carbed 2.3 turbo

In my opinion, it's easier to do the EFI turbo swap in a Mustang II than it is to even think about trying to tune a carbed turbo.

I have found a donor car for turbo swap

Stick shifts always shift gears without clutching if the engine is NOT running :) BTW...for $175 it may be worth it...the tranny is worth that and the rest may be redeemable. Even if the engine is full of water, most of it would be coated with oil and not rusted and no damage is done unless...

    Filling holes

JB Weld works great on a budget...I've never been disappointed by it on holes I filled years ago. Best of all, it doesn't absorb water and doesn't expand from moisture, so once it's sanded down and painted, it stays the shape you sanded it to.

    Mustang II beats Shelby GT500

Yeah...down about 60hp and 100ft/lb from my 351W car, but running 4mph faster in the 1/4. It's a LOT nicer finished car though.

351w'ers, what radiator hose are you using?

5.0L o-ring 90 degree thermostat housing and the stock 302 upper hose.

    X or H pipe on a II

I've had both and currently have a 3" X-pipe behind my 351W. IMO the X-pipe will equalize flow the best and I've never seen a direct dyno comparison between the two. The difference I always hear about is the difference you "hear". Otherwise, they both get in the way of dropping the tranny.

    pcv

I wish I'd caught this thread earlier...just to say exactly what I quoted here... The PCV system is a closed system and therefore the air through the PCV is metered. '85 Coupe's books mention plenty that is dead on accurate, he's just not translating it all right in his head. I did learn one...

    Got something for the Cobra

I've got a Holset HY35W sitting on the bench waiting to go on my '78...just waiting for some spare money so I can get one of "Rod's" headers and finish the intercooler.

    OBD I to OBD II?

nope...EEC-IV are OBD1 computers...EEC-V are OBD II. As for the question...better explain more of why you would want to do this?

    8" posi w/ 3.55

In 12 years of looking I've found 1...and it still had a whole car attached that I didn't want to go through parting out and didn't have the spare money to buy the whole car.

    Big Brakes Are Here

The kit I used worked fine without modifying the GM pads for use with the Granada rotors. The second kit I got from Fatman uses the big Camaro calipers and requires shims tack welded onto both pads, so nothing you'd want on a daily driver that goes through pads.

    Big Brakes Are Here

I've upgraded the rear brakes on both my cars that were converted to Granada front discs. My '78 Coupe has a '65 Mustang rear end with 10" drums. The '78 T-Top has a '59 Galaxy rear with 11" drums. The 10" drums match up very well with the 11" disc front, Monte Carlo calipers, and the stock...
