Boaters chime in plzz engine question

Yeah, the best thing to do on a boat that small is just keep them up all the way and only bump one down a hair if the boat is leaning to one side(too much weight on on side) I do understand them on some small boats that get out of balance if a cooler slides to one side a little. Kinda wished I...

Boaters chime in plzz engine question

Kinda what I thought, what length is that? I am guessing atleast 22' to have a set of trim tabs on it. Neat old boat though.

Boaters chime in plzz engine question

Glad you like it man. Everyone has their own opinionn on boat manufacturers. By now you get the story behind Bayliners. Just take good care of it. If I were you I would go the outside of the boat on the transom and put a bead of silicone around the outdrive to help ensure water doesn't leak...

Boaters chime in plzz engine question

Good luck with it and like 25th said, run it hard while test running it. Tell the seller why you are doing so. If he say's no, walk away, there is a reason. A good 30 seconds to a minute is usually enough at wot (wide open throttle) once the engine is warmed up to tell if it runs alright...

Boaters chime in plzz engine question

I would say just go run it and see how it does. If the gaskets do need replaced, it isn't that hard. I would have them checks the other bellows while they are in it too. You got it easy man, you should see how much I have my boat torn down! Doing a gimble ring repair on twin BBC/ Bravo 1...

    Wow...just wow..

No it doesn't matter what he spends the money on. A few months ago some girl backed into our Blazer. Just a dent above the rear wheel and some scratches. I was estimated at $1,154 to repair. Her insurance company asked who I will have fix it and I said I will not be repairing it and to just...

    Wow...just wow..

Even if he sold the car, the other guy should still pay. The car was worth more before the damage than it was after the damage.

    Convertibles

Almost, I took the rear seat from the 2002 also and pulled the leather off of the seat and then had the 2 pieces sewed together being my car is a vert and has 1 piece rear seat instead of 2 piece folding backs. I then re-wrapped my original seat with the material from the 2002. It is bubbled...

    Bought a new toy!

Not sure what clear you use but you shouldn't sure stains or clears used to treat other types of wood. There is an actual teak oil that is made for it. And with the tranny fluid, many people do this and it isn't something I just came up with to save money. It acts exactly like the teak oil...

    Bought a new toy!

Yeah, I know. It just got me thinking of the old wood boats. Something else to try on your teak instead of the teak oil (which I am assuming you use) is tranny fluid. On my boats w/ teak in the past and even when I do a customers boat I use tranny fluid. It gives it a little more of a red...

    Bought a new toy!

Good looking boat man. I like the style and curves of the old school cruisers, especially the old wood boats. But cost too much to maintain them for me.

    Bought a new toy!

What out drive does it have on it and what year? I may be able to track down a good used one for a decent price that has came off a boat that has been wrecked/damaged. Our marina keeps all parts that are salvageable.

    Bought a new toy!

Yeah, the outdrives are not cheap at all too. I find some pretty good deals around here on boats. Well, I gotta run down and have someone pull it out of the water for me. I have some slop in the steering so need to pull the drives and the gimble rings and take gimbles to be welded in and re...
