    Ohio Thread

I entered the car show the Saturday last year, then hit a deer that night. Needless to say, I couldn't make it Sunday. I'll be back this year but racing since my hood is still a little messed up.

why the hell wont my belt stop squealing?

I had a very annoying squeeling problem for a while, but as soon as I changed the belt it stopped. I think the edge of the old one got a little worn or scuffed or something. I only have 4 pulleys though (crank, water, idler, and alt), so it was easy for me to determine that my problem was none...

IS ANYONE REALLY INTERESTED IN THE SBC POSTS?!

Completely agree, I think our site is being polluted by a couple of idiots hoping to start trouble.

    any sbc fox guys?

Those of us who meet both qualifications don't ask stupid questions about putting Chevy engines in a Mustang! By the way, does anybody know how to put a VTECH in a 69 Mach 1?

    Top won't go up

If you do what srothfuss suggests make sure you have something to catch all the fluid. I had to do it and underestimated the amount of fluid in that system. I had the electrical half of the top motor repaired, but it's still not working correctly. I guess my next suspect is the top cylinders.

Thinking of running an oil cooler.

srothfuss: What kind of little fan are you looking at? I like this idea and might give it a try.

    Wheel Tire Question

To the best of my knowledge a 5-lug swap offers more wheel options. Maybe there are more advantages, but I think that's a major one. I have 275/40/17's out back anything bigger would be a challenge for me.

    pulleys

I agree with Jaswir, although I'm sure there are many people who install them and don't have problems. As far as steel vs. aluminum, maybe the lighter weight is good for more horsepower (less weight to get spinning). However, I would think it would be almost negligable. Maybe there's some...

Will firmer Shocks fix this problem...

I had to put cheap spring spacers in because it got to the point the the lip slit (and exploded) one of my Pirellis. It hasn't rubbed since, but eventually I want to fix it correctly because I don't like those spacers.

? about the design of the factory neutral safety switch

Yea, it should start anytime the clutch pedal is depressed. That switch died on me a while ago and I had to replace it, but it don't remember exactly where it attaches. If nobody responds soon, I'll take a look at it tomorrow morning and let you know.

    Engine = 182k...engine re-build kit?

Going along with this post, is the summit rebuild kit good quality or is it better to buy individual components?

    Advancing the cam?

Advancing a cam moves the powerband towards the low end. Yes, it's true and yes it will move the power away from the redline.

    Piston Weight?

Also, how much lift can stock lifters handle?

    Piston Weight?

Anybody know the weight of the stock piston and pin from an 86? The Technical reference book says 583g, but doesn't list it for the pin. The reason I'm asking is I'd like to get some new pistons with my rebuild to up the compression with the Trick Flow heads, but I'm already overbudget so I'd...

TF Stage 2 or 3 cam on h/c/i stock bottom end?

Stage 1: 2000-5500rpm Stage 2: 2500-6000rpm I'm not sure if the stage 2 (.542/.563 lift with 1.6 rockers) will clear stock pistons. It may, but you'll have to research it or maybe somebody else knows. Each will have a progressively more aggressive idle and will kill off a little bottom-end...

    Suggestion on Harmonic balancer?

If you're like me, the lighter balancing is cost restrictive. I'm looking at this Pioneer balancer from Summit. http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=PIO-872030&searchinresults=false&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&N=115&target=egnsearch.asp&x=10&y=8 It's SFI-approved, so I'm thinking it...

    flamming river help

86bluecobra: From my understanding, the quick ratio will make turning at very slow speeds harder. For a given turn of the steering wheel the wheels will turn more. That being said, I've never driven a car with the quick ratio manual steering, only my own which is normal ratio. Hopefully...
