Rim Blow Buddy / Bad Restoration / See Pictures

Hi, Not knowing what the damage was previously, I would have expected the vendor to acknowledge the repair (coloring) was going to be much different and given you the option. Since it appears, you tried to contact him to "make it right" and received no response, then, your only recourse is post...

    306 Ford Racing Crate Engine

Hi I agree, a 306 after a running 347 would not be a legitimate choice and use of funds. Anyone seeking a 306 (only a .o40 over a 302) would be seeking a a basically stock 302 perhaps with a little energy added. A agree, as well, FordStrokers would not seek such a venture. Good Luck with FMS.

    306 Ford Racing Crate Engine

Hi, For the engine deal, research Ford Strokers, they put together some super blocks both long and short. Plus you get custom knowledgeable support and access to custom cam profiles. As for the gearing, I run a T5z (.63 5th) w/2.95 1st. A 3.70 might be too low, especially with a 3.31 Ist! I run...

Performer Rpm Vs Rpm Air Gap Opinions?

Hi (Horseballz) Returning to your original question and nothing against what has been stated or suggested, as they are good helpful suggestions ...... But for simplicity, add a 1/4-1/2" phenolic spacer. It will do a world of good for a couple of bucks in reducing any "heat-soak" related issues...

Top End For A Street 289

Hi, I would with what's behind door #2. My reason? The RPM intake plays a dual roll, in that, it's dual plane design will aid in low end torque while the high rise aspect benefits your top end WOT. An air-gap is even better as it's cooling feature reduces hard starting due to overheated fuel...

    roller rocker arms

Hi, While the lash setting may be true, you still need to insure the lifter is on the base circle of the cam. Rotate the engine CC , while watching the valve action of anyone cyl. As the intake closes, the exhaust should then begin to rise, this is the point at which to adjust intake (valve...

    289 Re-build W/ Gt40 Heads - Need Suggestions

Hi, I suggest, you have the shop do the math and calculate your compression ratio (C/R). You should shoot for a 9.5, or so. CR. It's easy enough to shave a couple of thousandths off the head, not to mention the various choices in head gasket compressed thickness.

    Info On Global West

Hi Carl, When installed on the early mustangs (65-66), what benefit is derived by having an "adjust-ability" feature on your strut rod? BTW, I'm running a complete TCP standard coil system and your strut rods. Was it designed to allow for minor tweaking of the castor, or for minor frame...

4 Or 5 Ply Leaf Springs?

Hi, If your ride is a street cruiser and simply want a little better suspension with better handling and road feel, go with 4 leaves. As mentioned, the 5s are for more spirited handling and track work. If you insist on burn-outs, add Caltracs. Keeps the axle in check with out sacrificing your...

    Weird Idle Issue.

Hi, Start your diagnosis using an engine vac gauge. Trim the curb idle using the gauge to obtain the highest reading. Of course, you need to have a steady needle with a high reading on the gauge to begin with. If not, report your readings or research the results. Good luck!

    Data Plate Riveting

Hi I've did this replacement years ago. If memory serves me well, I placed the dimple rivets in the plate first. I positioned the rivets at the entrance to their respective holes and using a "blunted" driver of sufficient size, pushed them into the holes. I think this is how I did it.

    '66 Mustang Convertible Boot Question

Hi, You might poke around a few other Mustang specific sites and pose the question in their Concours forum. Even if it has shrunk (as mentioned) but having it's OEM sleeve, can be a display-only accessory in a concours car. Have you considered Ebay?

Rebuilt Engine Blows Water Out Of Radiator

Hi, Relative to: "Thanks poppymod for some ideas. I will try and do that next time. Are you saying that when the thermostat opens, the water will not force out the air that has been trapped inside the block?" No, I'm suggesting until the T'S opens, a lot of heat is being created. When the...

About To Assemble My 331 Stroker.....

Hi, Pay careful attention to the basic engine assembly tolerances, ring gaps (dependent on type of ring material), crank thrust, cam thrust, and bearing clearances. Mock up the rotating parts and check the rotation of the big ends for contacting the block edges. You want to stay away from thee...

Rebuilt Engine Blows Water Out Of Radiator

Hi, Barring any incorrect installations of parts, it is not too unusual what you experienced. While it's true a newly assembled engine will be "tighter" therefore generate more heat, it's a possibility, this increase heat combined with trapped air and super heated internal surfaces is causing...

Anyone Used A Key Locking Auto Trans Shifter Knob?

Hi, I ran one for several years in my early 65 CVT. It worked well in my application. Thankfully, it was never challenged. I suppose it will help with keeping idiots with taking off with pride and joy. But then, I had a hide-a-away lock on my ignition box, as well. Locks only deter honest people...

    Wideband Recommendations

Hi, Yes, one O2 sensor is fine for most road going rides. So, place it in the collector. The closer upstream, the better sampling quality. Happy trails!

Hi, I have an innovate that has served me well. My advice, install O2 sensor bungs in your headers, their use is more accurate than relying in the tailpipe sniffer. Happy Trails.....
