    aftermarket seats, harnesses

2" sounds good. If you are 6 feet or less, don't wear a helmet, and have a smaller diameter steering wheel than stock, I think you'll be just fine with most seats and that 2" pan drop. If any one of those points are not met, I really don't know. Perhaps a local seat dealer will let ya test fit one.

    aftermarket seats, harnesses

The Corbeaus will raise the seat too much. I bought them for my 66, didn't fit well at all and sold them on ebay. Expensive lesson... One reason is that the stock seats have springs that let you sink into them when you sit down. Aftermarket seats have a durable molded foam on a frame design. So...

    Sealing Differential

I also used a small piece of teflon tape on the threads of the fill plug. Not sure it's required but seems to work fine.

Re: The crashed mustang in S Carolina

Back in the 1990s all Fords had an impact sensor that turned off the electric fuel pump in case of an accident so it seems the Mustang may have been to blame. The trunk and tank for that matter may have been rotted out, maybe the filler tube was leaky, making everything sensitive to a hard...

    Drip Rail Moulding Weatherstrip/Sealer

I bought some long rolls of emblem tape by 3M made for automotive uses. IIRC, it doesn't retain moisture.

Project Outsourcing Tips and Lessons Learned

My suggestion would be to: a.) buy an already restored car unless you must have the car done to your standards (very particular or a perfectionist), or that particular car has some sentimental value to you, or you will do all or most of the work yourself, or b.) decide to have the car...

Anyone know where to find a door? or anyone have experience with the aftermarket

Was this one of the new and improved doors sold by NPD? I have a couple of those at the body shop (since March...) and they've been good so far. We've only installed them on the car, the threaded plates seemed ok. And then installed the latch and some of the lock rods, fit fine. Just wondering...

    protect your wheels

I just bought a set of McGard. Haven't even twisted them on yet while the car is getting painted, but they look great. Triple plated, so no chips, no peeling, no rust ever. Each nut ends up being $2 vs the $1 for the cheap stuff that usually looks lousy in 2-3 years. McGard is already known for...

    lecarra steering wheel 66 coupe

    1. I tapped the pins in with a hammer. They are a tight fit so I squeezed them with some pliers. I put them in far enough so they won't fall out. Maybe 1/8" in? It was hard to tell by looking at the time... 2. Not sure I understand the question but the pins will need to be tapped inwards...

    Can Anyone Identify These Wheels?

Car was on eBay This car was on eBay recently. Here's the link with more pix and info: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-Ford-Mustang-Supercharged_W0QQitemZ220139742044

    Modern Vintage Auto?

I had read that Modern Vintage Automotive offered a headlight relay kit for $40. But I've been trying to reach them for 6 weeks. Voicemail is full. Are they out of business? TIA (PS - I figured I'd buy a relay kit rather than make my own...)

Has anyone installed Fiero seats in their car?

I suppose I could have used the whole Fiero bracket but this allowed me to adjust the baseline tilt of the seat bottom to my liking, and it looked better being symmetrical rather than the Fiero's crooked feet. The rivets came out easy with an electric grinder on the heads and then a few...

Has anyone installed Fiero seats in their car?

Brackets are done I finally finished the 2 brackets the other day. There was some trial and error, and the guys at the paint shop showed me how to weld. I still need some practice with that... I used the top portion of the stock Fiero brackets including the handles and...

    Trunk mounted Battery Question

Sealed battery I wouldn't consider putting the battery in the trunk unless it was a sealed battery. Optima are the more popular sealed batteries but I bought a battery from Napa, which is a sealed battery that might be made by Exide or Orbital Sciences (it's not handy to look now). I preferred...

    Speed Bleeders with Baer Brakes

Great link! Thanks! I had bought the Valvoline fluid they recommend just by luck. Just found someone yesterday with a good double flare tool to do the shortened stainless hard lines for me. (With the car at the paint shop, there's plenty of stuff to do to keep busy.)

    Interior paint question

Look at the other thread Honestly, the other thread you had posted lists the right way to refinish the metal quarters. Just make sure you don't buy the Rainbow paint next time and you'll be all set. (The lacquer interior paint I bought from NPD was not Rainbow.)...

Best way to mask interior for dash paint?

photo Here's a photo of mine in progress a few months ago. I paid $1 for a big 12 foot plastic tarp and taped it from under the dash, along the floor front to back, then up to the headliner and back to the top of the dash, covering the windshield. I used the blue tape and wrapping paper (my NPD...

Has anyone installed Fiero seats in their car?

Sounds good, I'd like to see the Supra seats. I've seen 1990 Supra seats installed in a 65. Part of the appeal of the Fiero seats, though, is the availability of MrMike's upholstery kits for that exact seat. He has the reupholstery kit down to a science and the money is reasonable. Once you need...

Has anyone installed Fiero seats in their car?

Thanks! Thanks, I like these redone Fiero seats better than the Corbeaus. Mainly because the person sits in them rather than on them, like with the hard Corbeaus. And of course they have a different look that fits a restomod a bit better, imho. Since I had to have Mr.Mike order some specific...

Has anyone installed Fiero seats in their car?

Upholstery installed Ok I installed the upholstery on the rear seats (from karim) and on one of the front seats (from Mr. Mike). I used all new padding on the rear after cleaning and painting the frames, and added padding liberally to the front per Mr. Mike's suggestions (and a bit beyond). I...
