I Now Understand what the 2005 Mustang GT is All About

This is pretty funny... I haven't been reading this forum much, but you guys are awfully defensive about the '05. Personally, I like it, but some of you guys act like it's God's personal car... Accept some criticism, and get over it...

    yeah boy!!! 13.217 @ 103.31 *Auto*

Look, I only know what my bud has told me... He was at the track when this guy ran, and only pulled 14s at a very low MPH (96-98...)... You can't tell me that MPH has very much to do with the driver, because it doesn't... You can have a crappy run that makes as much MPH as your fast run... I...

    yeah boy!!! 13.217 @ 103.31 *Auto*

I've heard of a guy with a 5-speed '05 at Atlanta Dragway running 14.7@96 MPH shifting the heck out of the car. From 14.7 to 13.2 with an auto just doesn't sound right. I'll host the time slip if you email it to me. It may be saturday before I can host it though. Email me through...

Are these LCAs normal? Pics inside...

Well, I ordered the Pro-3 Street/Race LCAs, and just put them on tonight. VERY nice! No more wheel hop to speak of, it doesn't spin as much off the line, and it's easier to control spin with the throttle... I like! :nice:

    Throttle Body for value/performance

Well, there's better money you could spend honestly... Put some money into a good set of heads, and it's worth much more than that throttle body. I was like you, and wanted an easy mod, so I bought the TB. I had to grind out the opening of the stock intake, etc... I didn't notice any power...

    Throttle Body for value/performance

The ONLY throttle body I would buy is Accufab. It's the only one I've never heard anyone complain about. I had a long ordeal with MAC about their POS throttle body and EGR spacer, and Dave, and JD's Performance took the MAC back for me, and got me an Accufab at cost. The MAC whistled...

Are these LCAs normal? Pics inside...

    I ordered the Pro3i MM look-alikes last night. http://www.partshopper.com/fordmustang/itemdesc.asp?CartId={7D8F7AC2-74F3-4508-8A5EVEREST3-8BC992537DF5}&ic=PRO3%2D23957&eq=&Tp=

Are these LCAs normal? Pics inside...

I wish that was the norm though... I called a friend who just pulled his LCAs off his '90 coupe, and they were all round, not oval. I guess it's hit or miss...

    gas mileage

Your car obviously has issues then... Change the O2 sensors to assure they're not running in open-loop all the time...

    gas mileage

The 2.73 once got 26 MPG highway, but averaged around 23 MPG. With a 4.10, I get 19-20 MPG highway, and with the old 3.55 20-21 highway. I should note that the 2.73 milage was with a stock motor. The 3.55 and 4.10 milage is with the motor as it sits now...

how much power can a stock aod handle?

From what I hear, OD will be the first to go... Try NOT to race in OD, and don't do the 1-D-1 shuffle, and the tranny will be fine for a long time... It looks like you're basically stock on the motor end though, so what's the issue?...

Are these LCAs normal? Pics inside...

I wasn't really excited about just replacing the bushings with poly ones anyway, and now that I know they're oval, I think I'll just replace the control arms with maybe the Pro3i pieces. I got the poly bushings from a friend who was selling them, and figured I'd try them out. I just wish I...

Are these LCAs normal? Pics inside...

I decided to replace the control arm bushings on my '93 vert, and I dropped the control arm, only to find some weird stuff... The front control arm bushing is oval, and I didn't think that Mustangs used these oval bushings. My poly bushing kit has only round bushings... The funny thing...

    convertible diet

I ran ~81.5 or so with the stock cam as well. I guess I gained a little MPH, but the cam really didn't wake the car up at all. On the other hand, it revs more easily to 6K now.

    convertible diet

I understand your arguments... I have subframes, I have pullies, I have AFR 165 heads... etc... Still, comparable hardtops are quicker, and hook better... And coefficient of drag can only be accurately measured on an immovable object. A rattling top, even an unnoticible movement can mean...

    convertible diet

Man, never knew how lazy I was before. I guess the fact that comparable coupes and hatches hook better, encounter less aero resistance as they approach 100 mph, and go quicker is all in my head. Thanks for clearing it up man... :nice:

    convertible diet

I've put a ton of money into my vert. It still doesn't run as fast as some lightly modded coupes... If you're into the vert thing, go for it, but don't put a lot of money into it if you want sheer power and acceleration...

    White Smoke & Coolant Smell...Headgasket?

If you're also having temperature fluctuations, I'd bet it's a head gasket failure. Change the oil ASAP to see if it's milky or discolored. It's likely you'll SEE water coming out when you first remove the drain plug if it's a bad gasket failure. If you change the oil with the car cold and...
