    strange oil pressure problem

No, I am not assuming it is a mechanical guage, I know it is. It was my car 3 weeks ago!!

    strange oil pressure problem

My god , you guys sure are quick to get greasy!! ( drop the pan) EVER hear of a faulty guage?? FIRST, I would take the line off the oil pressure gage and blow it out. If that did not fix it I would get a known good gage and hook it up in it's place.:nonono:

    Sold the cobra clone

No remorse. I guess I really did not feel anything because I did not have to sell it. I got what I wanted , not a penny less. Mr Achey can vouch for that. I think my next II I would do it exactly the same. 8.8 rear, all that, but unfortunately I do not have the time and will be looking for an...

    Sold the cobra clone

Yeah it is kinda sad to see my empty stable. I would like to find an original ( or darn close) cobra (for a fair price)I can hold on to and see if the value goes up. I have my eye on a 79 though. I used to have a79 Pro streeter with a 460:D but a 347 stroker would be nice.

    Sold the cobra clone

Well , I went to the All Ford Nationals to show the Cobra off and ended up selling her sunday morn. I was not going to get something else, but now I feel myself looking. I am going to start building the mexican block in the garage while I ponder things for a month or II:D

    Holley carb stumbles

You sold me on one, but I will have to wait until the money starts flowing again. I am going with a 650 mighty demon

Without a tester is there a way to tell if a power valve is shot?

    Holley carb stumbles

Yeah , I thought I had 10" ( wait that didn't sound right:D )of vacuum which is why I went with the 55 power valve. John @ my local speed shop said take your idle reading , divide it in half and add a half. 10" divided by2= 5 + 5 so a 55 or 5.5 whatever. I think a 65 still would have been ok...

    Holley carb stumbles

Are the 390's 2 barrels??? 2-2barrels would be great don't ya think . When I sold my 74 I took the 4 bbl , nitrous & all that crap off and put a stock 2 bbl & intake on. It was insane off of idle to midway through the rpm's ( then it flattened out) But not to worry the kid had it 3 days before...

    Holley carb stumbles

Ok, here it goes. Ran the car to my buddies shop for inspection. While I was there I checked it with his vacuum gage. Guess what? 13" @ idle in park @900rpm. I had my gage along and adjusted it to match his. I put the .035 squirter in and moved the orange cam to pos #2 . We both agreed that I...

You can plug the power valve port( close it off) you just need to increase jet size to compensate.

    Holley carb stumbles

I do not think I need a race demon ,and have my eye on a 650 mighty demon ( it's always about cost isn;t it? ):rlaugh: No seriously I am still hesitant about the mech sec., so what about the speed demon? I know all out performance a double pumper is the way to go, but I am not going to race...

    Holley carb stumbles

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. The 5.5 power valve was installed due to the suspected faulty vacuum gage reading. I will probably put a 6.5 back in. But I was under the impression that the main jets worked all the time and the power valve only popped open to give x-tra fuel during...

    Holley carb stumbles

Well , after last night I am convinced I need a new vacuum gage. I had 8" @ 900 rpm and 5" in drive, and 15" at around 1500 rpm. I would think @ 5" my power brakes would not work and they work fine. Cam is installed straight up. I did idle it up to 900 rpm. I am going to check compression when I...

    Holley carb stumbles

Torque converter is only a 2000 stall. I will work on the idle. I have rejetted and yes the floats are set. I am going to try the squirters. Stock is .031" and I have .028" and.035" to try. It has been raining alot around here lately so I have not had it out much.

    Holley carb stumbles

#1) After my engine math compression is 10.2:1 #2)Idle is low 600-800 rpm #3) still sneaking up on timing- right now it is about 10 degrees initial- 34 total- where it exactly comes in I am not sure of- I will recheck #4) I always set idle mix with a vacuum gage. #5) zero lash on pump...

    Holley carb stumbles

Yes it is on an edelbrock rpm intake ( 7121) shelby style. Camshaft is --Comp cams 280 dur / 512" lift and 230 dur@ .050. So it is healthy, and vacuum is 10" at idle. I will check it in drive and part throttle cruise.

    Holley carb stumbles

I have always used holly carbs ( don't know why) and have always had off idle stumbles, hesitations, flat spots, etc. I used to fix them with a different cam. My 750 vacuum secondary on my 347 stroker-cobra clone now has an off idle stumble/flat spot. I have rejetted it- changed the power valve...
