Last thread.. I promise... tachometer options in a 66

Scott Drake started making a reproduction of the original rally pacs for 65-66 Mustangs. I bought one from CJ's Pony Parts for my 66, but just about every Mustang parts vendor carries them now. They come in your choice of color and 6 or 8k tac and cost about $400.00. It's easy to install and...

    T5 swap - specific questions...

+1 to everone's advice. The headers will probably not work with the stock clutch arangement though but a cable clutch will give you plenty of room. I am building my 66 and keeping it original in appearance but updated functions. To that end I'm contempating a T5 swap as well but plan to use...

    Why would this happen?

The heater core was most likely the culprit, or at least a major contributor. Heater cores go bad a lot because people don't flush their cooling system enough. It looks like yours did just that. They tend to leak slowly at first so most people don't really notice it or they just ignore it and...

2008 GT vs. 2009 BOSS Possibility

Ice Hawk - Sounds like you have a good plan, good luck and don't loses sight of your goals. Good luck in the Army as well. People always say this but its true; time go by very fast. The 24 years seems to have flown by but there were many times that it felt like it really dragged. I found...

    A Code GT's?

A codes were available with the GT option but be careful, lots of people try to pass off converted A codes as factory original GTs. If you know what to look for you can tell if the conversion was not done correctly, but it's really hard to verify if it was expertly done unless you have...

    '66FB 289 - Starting Issues

Check the starter solinoid. Often times it goes bad and won't pass a current. You can jump the post with a wire or remote starter(be sure the ingnition key is in the On position. If it stars that's the problem. If not, either that Starter is bad or your battery is too low.

2008 GT vs. 2009 BOSS Possibility

Ice Hawk – I know first hand what you mean about waiting for and wanting a special Mustang that may or may not appear, as well as not having the money to pay for it. I’m in the Army too and have been for nearly 24 years. It’s been a great life with lots of sacrifice but well worth it. I was...

Not road racing:Is Global West overkill?

As most have mentioned, it really comes down to how you plan to use your car. I built mine for cruise-ins, car shows, weekend pleasure drives and to drive it to work and the store once or twice a week. That being said I found the factory setup a bit too loose for my tastes. I wanted a little...

    Windshield Seal Replacement

I just replaced my windshield as well but used the cord method and had my 8 year old Son push from the outside. The trick to this though is to spray silicon fluid all along the seals after you put in the cord and just before you put the winshield in. A friend of mine gave me that tip and it I...

Chronicals of a rattle can paint job Part I

Thanks for letting us follow along with your progress. I haven't done a whole car that way but I have done my dash and my rear valance like you did and was very happy with the results. I just painted my engine compartment but I used an HVLP gun for that. I debated a long while if I should...

    Engine replacement & tranny rebuild

:) That's great to hear. I'm not building a strip car and plan to use it mostly for cruising and car shows but I do want to step into it once in a while. I'm glad that you have it running good now. I enjoyed following your progress on this thread and wish you the best. I've had my car...

    Engine replacement & tranny rebuild

t-chelle16 - How is your engine running? The reason I'm asking is because I am thinking of putting a Recon engine in my 66 Mustang too. I'm looking at different engine remanufacturers and Recon seems to make a good product at a decent price so I am leaning towards that one. Thanks for posting...

    californa package

I am very happy with my CS purchase because: 1. The interior is a two tone gray and black combo that is not available on regular Mustangs. 2. It comes with the 18" polished wheels which I would have ordered on a GT anyway. 3. It has the front and rear facias of the Shelby so it stands out...

Steeda under drive pulleys and install...

bigcat - thanks for the great write-up. I've been thinking of doing the same install in mine (2007 GT/CS) but I am concerned about how it would effect the charging system. Do you notice any problems at idle, such as dimmer headlights etc...? I put BBK underdrive pulleys in my 1990 Mustang GT...

    Build your own Shelby GT

celticstanger - I understand. The Gas Guzzler Tax thing gets me though. A regular GT does not have that tax but the Shelby is rated as a gas guzzler so it is levied with the Gas Guzzler Tax. I just don't understand how 1965coupe can say that he will not include it in the calculation when it...

    Switched my fender emblems...again

I have a GT/CS just like that one..same color too. I really love it. Kooldawg6 - I really like your emblems too. They look way better than the stock GT ones and go exceptionally well with the vista blue and white stripes!

    Build your own Shelby GT

Wow, people get testy when they talk about their cars and who paid what. I had a lot of fun reading this thread and I had to jump in. 1965coupe - You've got a hot looking Shelby and you obviously are proud of it...good for you! I think it looks great and I wouldn't mind having one myself...

    Auto Sound USA-66 Radio

I love my USA 66 stereo. Several years ago I had a 1965 Corvette that I put a USA 1 in and I hated it. It was cheaply built and the sound quality was not very good but it was the only aftermarket radio that woukld fit in it. That Corvette is long gone but a couple of years ago I got a 1966...
