Bought the porter cable version of that at tractor supply last year for around $440 out the door on fathers day. Definitely nicer than the craftsman 33 gallon that served me for 10 years before it died. Joe

Build Thread '83 T-top Coupe - Welding Holes in My Rear

Never done it myself, but my thoughts would be that the pressurized gas would offset that. I have seen YouTube videos of guys doing it, but can't really say. Joe

Mike, I bought one of those spool guns last year and have only fooled with it once. The results were horrendous, but I was using co2 argon mix, and I know it calls for pure argon. What are you using for the spool gun, and do you think gas makes that much of a difference? Joe

Father n law cracked a roller 351 on the dyno, I think 712hp and 7600 rpms helped it. Joe

I don't think the roller blocks came about till around 93, but I may be completely wrong on that. I hate your luck in this, but things like this are why I say just save longer and do it right. Looks like you will be building an engine after all. Don't cut any corners, do it like you know you...

    Looking for Idea/advice on build

The small base circle came are frowned upon in the camshaft world. They take meat out of the core so the roller lifters will ride lower in the block and get oiled correctly. This makes the camshaft more prone to flex and the valve train unstable. Link bar lifters are the correct way to do it...

    Looking for Idea/advice on build

Sometimes we cripple ourselves with budgets and deadlines. Believe me, I understand a budget, but I think you should extend your deadline for finishing this thing, meaning, longer to save. Lots of opinions and experiences in here, but if you bought a dart or boss block, it would be the last...

Yes, no rivets. If anyone can do it, you can Dave!

Fox with a NA 5.0 to run 12 flat?

It's already been said, but on that budget it is going to be very difficult. It could be done with a low rear gear, the right convertor ( which may take a few tries to get right), some iron gt40's, and an ots cam. The heads will need port work, good springs and a valve job, they will also need...

There is no cheap fix. Adding to that, I don't think anyone would recommend using your rotating assembly in the dart block. You would need all new. Joe

    Looking for Idea/advice on build

I think your brake and suspension upgrades need to happen.....but, playing with a stock block these days is pointless ( I am too) considering 500hp is barely exciting anymore. As for a 4.6 swap, i just don't see the benefit of all the work for old technology. The blocks are strong, but the...

so much sexy in one SBF

My very uneducated guess is that it helps speed air velocity up, and direct it, at the rear of the intake.

Vortech Intake (just case in case you have to have one)

Don't know if he ever did. He was firm on price at something like $1300. Racerx or something similar is his screen name. Always has cool stuff for sale at top dollar. Joe

    Camshaft Options

Ed will suggest a spring kit that will consist of springs, retainers, seals and locks. Reason being that he likes using smaller diameter LS style valve springs, which require their own retainers and locks. You can source them cheaper outside of him, I did, but it was a pain in the rear to save...
