    1965 Mustang rust repair

"The owner knows it needs a lot of work but she wants to save a Mustang" I think its great its being restored but can't imagine the bill for this coupe. Must have some sentimental value - maybe she was conceived in it.

    Power Steering Control Valve?

Got the old one off - using a lot of the tips I got here. Only issue is that the ford repair manual says that the distance from centerlink and greas fitting is 4 1/2 for mustang and 5 5/8 for montegos and mavericks. Mine was 5 5/8. Who knows somebody may have swapped it out over the last 40...

You have to bleed it. Just turn wheels from stop to stop 3 to 5 times should do it.

    Power Steering Control Valve?

Thanks Choco. I can see how people can overlook roll pin. Thaks on heads up. Also I agree on rebuild kit - the autozone parts list looked a little lacking. Ended up buying from http://www.stangerssite.com/CVrebuilding.html (thanks robzz28). They had the most complete kit. Apprecaite...

    Power Steering Control Valve?

Thanks - I'm going to tackle the rebuild myself. The rebuild kit is $20 at autozone. If still problems after that I will look at borgeson unit. Plan on putting one in the 66 project I'm doing now. Whats the best way to remove from pitman arm?

    Power Steering Control Valve?

I have a leak where the power steering contol valve and pitman arm meet. There is a zerk fitting for pitman arm joint that goes up thru the control valve - see pic. Its on a 70 v8. I'm guessing there is a seal there that is bad and power steering fluid and grease are mixing and making a...

Just dropped the rear 1" do I really need to do front?

okay did the fronts. Took me a little longer (3hrs) than I thought it would. Now that I know what I'm doing I could knock it out in an hour. Has a little rake to it. I think it looks better - although not much difference - and ride is still fine. does not feel like I need an alignment - may...

Just dropped the rear 1" do I really need to do front?

Did not get an alignment - when I do the front I probably will. No noticeable difference in ride - did not seem any stiffer. When I first sat in car you can tell the heigth difference though..

    reinforced shock towers

Have not seen them already welded to tower when you buy them. But you can get a reinforcement kit. I ended up not putting on mine - general consensus was not necessary when I upgraded to 347. Mustang Shock Tower Repair/Reinforcement Kit - Pro-Motorsports

Where can I find a good deal on Roush Supercharger?

Just dropped the rear 1" do I really need to do front?

Pretty easy to change back springs springs. I used the write up attached to do. I had some bracing to remove the article refers to. Assuming because my car is a vert. I also used a spring compressor on one side which it does not reference. With dropping the rear still could not get it...

    Leaf spring change Q's

Common problem. The bolt seizes to innner sleave. Only way to get out is to cut it. I've done a few of these and quickest way to cut it is with a grinder and 7" cutoff wheel. Stands should go right in front of leaf springs on rear torque box.
