    That's true. I didn't think about that. It would be pointless to match the port in the head and still not be able to blend it.

    Has anyone that has swapped the PI intake onto the non-PI heads gasket matched the heads to the intake? I saw a couple pics and it seems like it wouldn't be too bad. What I'm wondering is if there is enough metal around the port to do the matching or would I run into a water jacket?

    I had 3.73's installed today with the 23 tooth speedo gear. In 5th gear at 70mph I'm turning around 2200-2300rpms and at 80mph I'm turning 2600rpm. Does this sound right.     Craftsman has a set of sockets just for this purpose. They have edges cut in them to grip the flat part of the nut or bolt. Maybe it's time for a trip to Sears.

    Go with the 5.8. More potential and cheaper to build. You can use most of, if not all of the wiring for a 302.

    Where can I get the exhaust gaskets that go between the manifolds and mid pipe? Can I get them at a place like Autozone or do I have to hit the dealer?

    '01GT donating P.I. heads/cams to a '98GT. Have a few questions!

    I would keep the 98 computer and have it tuned to the later motor. If you put the 01 computer in there you'll have to swap out the fuel system as well.

    Does Bassani make both a catted and off road pipe? I was looking on their site and it just says x pipe. It doesn't say whether it's catted or not.

    Your alternator bracket should bolt to the 351 just fine. The only bracket I modded was the P/S bracket when I did the swap.

    Washed the engine and water got in coils...

    I remember reading a MM&FF where they managed to get some water into the plug holes on their Lightening. They pulled the plugs and found some of them destroyed. Maybe you should check your plugs. I doubt anything happened to the valves.

    Magnaflow too loud?

    I have the Bullets on my car and they're not really that loud. It wakes up when you stomp on it though. Hopefully next week I'll be swapping in a Bassani catted X though. I'm sure that'll change the sound a bit.

    If you're doing the motor get a steel crank. Even if it's a Cobra crank. You don't want it to be the weak link.
