Fuel Vapor Purge (aka: Evaporative Control) Connection 351C

The air cleaner hole pictured is for connection of the Evaporative purge hose from the carbon canister. I don't have the air cleaner adaptor to attach the hose. I'm trying to find out what it looks like and where to get one. I would also like to use the correct hose, which I believe should...

    M&R Engines on Ebaymotors

I guess I'll never understand why anyone is willing to trust their hard earned dollars to any engine builder that they haven't thoroughly researched. And, No, eBay feedback doesn't count as research. I've purchase 2 engines over the past 10 years. The first, a rebuilt 289, was from a very...

    What would you guys do?

The fact that you're asking this question from a community of classic Mustang enthusiasts is a pretty strong indication where your heart lies. If you're looking to justify keeping, enjoying and restoring your classic, you've come to the right place. I wonder what the response would be from...

Electronic Ignition ID & Rough Idle ?s

Update I followed bnickel's tuning advice along with 2+2GT's vacuum routing assistance from this thread. I replaced the broken distributor vacuum control valve (aka: PVS). Used the 1970 351C vacuum diagram. Removed the EGR temperature controlled vacuum valve (located in the heater coolant...

    351C Power Steering Pump

OK, so you custom modified the PS bracket from a Windsor and used the fan Pulley from a Windsor, correct? Did you also modify, or use from the Windsor, the atl. bracket and/or spacer?

    351C Power Steering Pump

Here's what my 73 looks like: I ended up using a 9510 power steering belt as it is just a bit longer than the specified 9505 belt. Also, oddly, the 9510 belt was $13 and the 9505 was $21. Edit: Also, I really think you've got the wrong PS mounting bracket. Clevorguy's and mine look the...

    351C Power Steering Pump

I'm not sure how you seem to have gotten the alt pulley to line up with the fan pulley. 1st crank pulley closest to engine runs fan and power steering pump. 2nd crank pulley runs alt. 3rd crank runs A/C. Do you still have the power steering pump mounting bracket that belongs to this engine...

    Power steering cooler

I can't help thinking that the power-steering cooler was only intended for A/C equipped cars. I don't really know, but without the A/C, the cooler looks like dung IMO. Though 71-73s are different in many ways, I suspect they are the same when it comes to the power steering cooler installation...

air coming thru vents..... hot air!!

If your car had A/C at one time, you should have a vacuum actuated shut-off valve in the right heater core feed hose near the firewall.

    351C Power Steering Pump

My 351C is supposed to have A/C, but since I don't have all the components, I'm just using a spacer between the Steering Pump and Head for now. I used a 1/2"-13 standard hex nut as a spacer. All pullys (fan - crank - steering pump) line up perfectly. The Hex nut is 0.450" thick. I chased the...

    overheating issue

And if the spring is missing, good luck finding a replacement. I ended up having to purchase one of those universal hoses just so I could cut it in half to get the spring out.

help w/ p/s lines going into p/s box

Yes, why did you "have to get new lines made", when they're available off the shelf?

    overheating issue

I always thought it was just to shut off the hot coolant to the heater-core on A/C cars so the evaporator-coil and heater-core weren't fighting against each other. 2+2GT will have to explain how shutting the coolant flow to the heater-core off improves engine cooling. Makes no sense to...

It might help if you answer 2+2GT's questions from your previous thread of the same topic: 1. Is your radiator a 2 row or 3 row? 2. Do you have a fan shroud? Also, have you solved the carb/idle problem from your talk section thread?

Correct Original Heater Hose Routing for 351C 2V W/Climatic Choke

OK, I found the answers to most of my questions in Tom Monroe's, "How to Rebuild Ford V8 Engines": "The heater-inlet hose is routed from the intake manifold on the 429/460, or the block on other engines, to the bottom heater-core tube. This means the heater-outlet hose is routed from the top...

Correct Original Heater Hose Routing for 351C 2V W/Climatic Choke

My manuals don't seem to be helping much here. I assume it's routed as follows: Return hose from Right heater core firewall connection to engine block connection. Feed hose from Water pump connection through climatic choke thermostat heat shield, to heater control valve, to Left heater...
