    Paint Color Question

I'm ready to repaint my 65 restomod convert. The color I am looking for is a dark metallic (pure) RED, so dark it looks almost black. My paint shop can't find the color, and I know I've seen a few cars that color. First try came up with a purple ("black cherry"), second try was more maroon...

    Painted Stripes

Tell him he misunderstood - you did NOT want the entire car painted (that's what I was quoted by a dealer to paint my entire '65 - in basecoat/clearcoat). He gave you a price to paint the whole car!! :o) Tell him you just want a stripe. (Should be $300 - 500)

Best Looking Rims on '05 to Date!!!

Because the front of the car is smaller than the back. It's the "big butt" design that almost all modern cars seem to have. Kinda the Roseann Barr school of automotive design. Personally, I prefer the trim, neat rear on my '65 - or my lady's Z-3.

Do convertibles look good with stripes?

ALL Mustangs are coupes. Since the first '65. They never made a sedan. They have built convertible coupes, fastback coupes, and notchback coupes. Never a sedan or roadster. (Well, actually there were two roadsters. the '62 and a one-off '65) I like fastback coupes, myself, but like...

    WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

True in some cases. But not all. The original '63 Mustang concept looked a LOT like the '65 that came out later. And the current production T-Bird is virtually identical to the concept. Same with the Chevy SSR. One concept car I wish they would produce is the Ford Forty-Niner. Awesome!

    Keeping it Clean

Good thought. You could have a cloth that is better than the classic chamois. But the leaf blower is the best solution I've seen. Nothing touches the surface. Of course, you need to clay the surface occasionally. My son taught me that one, as it is how he keeps his black Z3 looking...

    My EFI wiring harness pics!

I used the Ford Motorsport harness. It's made for a 5.0 EFI to go in an older car. Works great. It was about $480 from my local Ford dealer and only had to wait a week or so. Here's a plus: I called the tech support at one point and actually got somebody who knew what he was talking...

    Bluetooth

No, actually, they weren't. The thread is about Bluetooth, which is the radio link between the cellphone and the car's handsfree electronics. There is an antenna, of course. But it is inside the car, not outside. Look at comment #6, and also look at my diagram, which explains the whole...

    Keeping it Clean

Unless it's a trailer queen, Wrong!! First, "dusting" won't get rid of the grime that gets on it from the road. Second, wiping anything across it, to dust it, will scratch that soft clearcoat (it's plastic, you know).

    Keeping it Clean

    >chuckle< You're probably right!! But that's OK, I do it in the driveway, where they can't see it. And if they do think I'm strange, so what?? But is does work great!!

    My EFI wiring harness pics!

I mounted mine in the center above the radio, using a (modified) bracket that is available from one of the California-based Mustang suppliers. Works well, but I did have to reverse the computer mount on the bracket. Email me if you want more details - [email protected]

Whats the dumbest mod youve seen someone do to their car?

Mine works quite well, thankee. :D But you can't tell it's there without opening the hood. It's a very popular thing to do - modernizing the running gear, but keeping the classic look and feel.

Whats the dumbest mod youve seen someone do to their car?

Last time I saw that (at a car show in Charlotte), there was a whopping big Chevy V-8 under that hood. Yes, up front on a Corvair!

    STANG2K5 License Plate

Not really. Not all states allow 8 letters. Some (like mine) are limited to 7 letters on vanity plates.

    Keeping it Clean

I strongly recommend that you do NOT use any cloth to dry. A chamois is much better, but far, far better than that is NO cloth. Get an electric (cordless or corded) leaf blower and blow dry the car. You won't get marks in the wax that way. Just be sure to blow dry it quickly, as any droplets...

    Anyone have buyers remorse yet?

If your Granny drives an aggressive, fast-lookin' sleek car like an 05 Mustang, I wanna meet her!!!

    Bluetooth

Actually, I was the one who first mentioned an outside antenna to extend the range. My apologies. Bluetooth is something different. No help on range, but designed for convenience inside the vehicle. It is still "wireless" (the old name for "radio"... why did they bring back the 100 year...

    Bluetooth

No confusion here. I did not say external antenna. I specifically mentioned that it can be on the circuit board. It either has a wire or an antenna - the data cannot be transferred otherwise. Basic physics, Bluetooth did not revise laws of physics. Bluetooth has an antenna - it has to -...

    MINERAL GREY QUESTION???????

And that is a traditional Mustang thing, too. Example: there were two different colors on '65 Mustangs called "Silver Smoke Grey". The later ones had a distinct blue tint, while the first ones (like mine - ordered on April 18, 1954) were pure silver. To get the correct color on an early '65...

    Pics of 2005 convertable

I LIKE the tan top and black. The new Mustang looks great in convertible trim - just like the original. I've always thought the 65 Mustang was the first convertible that looked good with the top up as well as down! (Just for the record - my '65 is Black Cherry with a tan top. But the top...
