    helicoiling a crank?

It should be O.K. just be sure to get the new hole drilled right (meaning in the center) Helicoils are good for strength but not the best choice in a hole where the bolt is used (in and out) a lot.

Moral dilemma regarding Shelby side scoops...

I wasn't trying to talk you into more fabrication work. It already looks like space is at a premium for exhaust, unless it is going to dump before the rear axle. If you want to make them functional, I'm sure that you can make them work. Just some friendly encouragement. I don't mean to change...

    Kaase heads

It is hard to find any kind of automotive competition that does not favor the Chevy's in some way.

    Rear End Dilemma

If you are done with the engine now the 8" will be fine. If you have any future plans to add power down the road, I would bite-the-bullet and go 9" now.

Moral dilemma regarding Shelby side scoops...

By looking at pictures of your car, I can only conclude that you have some awesome fabricating skills. So don't try to tell us that making the scoops functional for the inboard brakes is too hard. Seriously, I don't see a problem with the non-functional scoops. I am not sure they will hurt the...

    The SN65 project car

No offense to any dentist out there, but I hate going to the dentist. Too bad about your broken tooth. Do you have the feeling back in your mouth yet? Great job on the laser cut panels. That kind of work and detail will really give this project the OE look you are going for.

How much difference do gears REALLY make?

The right gears will give you the kick in the pants you are looking for. This is one of the single best mods you can make to any car. How much highway driving do you plan to do? If you aren't going on the highway much you can go with more gear then 3.25, and still be a great cruiser. I went with...

    Kaase heads

I thought the exact same thing when I read the the specs on his entry, he specd a set of CHI (Cylinder Head Innovations) heads for his small block entry. Why didn't he use the ones with his name on them? When he won the big block challenge last year he used the SCJ (Super Cobra Jet) heads that...

    What vendor for new radiator?

I ahve noticed the same thing with vendors. I think my dad does want to retain the stock look, and we do have the original radiator. The 428 is stock except for .060" overbore. This car does not go to the track, or does it hardly ever see "spirited" driving. It has a life of car shows, parades...

    Cam

I would recomend calling technical help at Crane or Comp Cams. Either one of these companies could point you in the right direction, and both have great costomer service. Be sure to have all the information about your car in front of you before you call, unless you have them memorized. The more...

What to do with Engine Bay?

I vote for matching the body color. I have only seen a couple early Mustangs done this way, they really stand out. One particular Mustang I've seen done this way was a '66 Shelby clone, red with white stripes, the stripes conitnued down the firewall. It was a show stopper.

    Different 8" Question

My '70 has always had an 8" in it, with a 302 and C4. I replaced the gears shortly after I bought it 16 years and 80,000 + miles ago. This car has only seen the street since I have owned it, too many burn outs to count and the ocassional street race. My 8" has never given me a reason to worry...

Who needed '69 decal placement pics ??

How does a car like this get 70,000 miles on it if it was stored from 1972 - 2003? Somebody must have drove alot for the few years it was on the road.

    68 Coupe with a 6 cylinder?

I doubt the 1000 HP I6 in Austrailia shares anything with any of the American I6 ever prudeced. We can only hope that, some time soon, Ford will bring some of the cool Ausie. stuff here like the 400 HP 5.4L BOSS and the turbo I6. The 500 will get old fast if they don't put some muscle in it soon.

    The SN65 project car

I didn't really think you would cut up a good '65. Anyone with the smarts to get as far as you have on this project would know better. Please keep us up to date on your progress, I'm sure that I am not the only one here interested to see how this turns out. I for one, am impressed with the...
