How to remove old input shaft bearing?

Well, after a lot of searching I finally stumbled upon a brand new input shaft on eBay for $33 shipped. For that cheap, I figure it isn't worth messing with trying to get the bearing off the old shaft and all that hassle. Besides, I have a feeling the old input shaft might be slightly bent...

How to remove old input shaft bearing?

'Kay, I guess I'll call a couple of shops on Monday. Thanks. :nice:

How to remove old input shaft bearing?

Hmmmm ... well, I don't have one on hand, but I'll take a look at Harbor Freight tomorrow and see if they have anything that might be big enough for the job. Good idea. :nice: I thought I remember seeing a picture online of this thing called a bearing separator, but I dunno where. Looked like...

How to remove old input shaft bearing?

There's absolutely no other way? No bearing separator tool of some kind?

How to remove old input shaft bearing?

Okay, simple question: Short of taking it to a machine shop or transmission shop and paying them to do it, how can I get the old input shaft bearing off the input shaft? Is there a tool I can score from Harbor Freight or someplace to do the job, or what? (I wandered around there, but didn't seen...

Summit brand throttle bodies, anyone use them?

Summit doesn't manufacture anything, really. Just about every Summit-branded item they sell is just a part manufactured by some other major company, minus the packaging and the logo (or sometimes they even file/grind the logo off). It's a crapshoot as to whether or not it's a good part when you...

    Back from Paint!

LOVE the diamond-clear lenses, and those wheels are just right. I WANT. Oh yeah, and one more vote here for badgeless. One less thing to wax around in the future. :nice:

pretty shiney things that the brown bus left for me.

Lots of ghey dudes work at the hospital. At least with a GT bumper you don't really see the tailpipes, so you don't have to worry as much about them being uneven. With LX tails, I get completely anal about the alignment of those things, and ever since I had to cut up my flow tubes...

pretty shiney things that the brown bus left for me.

Nah, I doubt you got the tailpipes reversed, as it's pretty much impossible to get the right on the left side and vice-versa; the FLOW tubes, however, there's a chance you might've gotten those mixed up, since one is longer than the other. Look at the H-pipe or X-pipe you're mounting them onto...

pretty shiney things that the brown bus left for me.

The included clamps/nuts should be just fine. The only time you'll run into problems with the thing working themselves loose is if you got an X-pipe or H-pipe that doesn't have a transmission crossmember hanger on it. If you bought "The Beast" kit from Pypes with the hangerless off-road X-pipe...

    Graphic Image - CAUTION

Being that it looks like a four-banger, chances are they were still running a stock 2G alternator and the wiring fried, sparking the fire. :(

pretty shiney things that the brown bus left for me.

Awesome. :nice: Are the flow tubes welded to the mufflers right out of the box (a-la Flowmaster)? It looks like that muffler's already connected, but I can't tell for sure with the bubble wrap...

    Another Clutch Cable Problem

I'm thinking it's your quad. Not all aftermarket clutch quadrants are made with the same dimensions. It might be allowing for too much slack - more than your FWA can allow you to dial out. Maybe look into getting a different quad from Maximum Motorsports, or UPR.

Sayin hello...any of the 'folks' still around

If the 2011/2012 Mustang GT's are supposed to be as great as all the hype would have us believe, it makes me wonder why ANYONE would want to waste the money on a 2008 to 2010 model.

How to dispose of a car

How to dispose of a car

See if they have anyone in Hollywood making some kinda action flick for which they require some cars to destroy. They could make some fake body panels out of cardboard or whatever to replace the ones that are missing and then blow up or smash the thing. They get a free car to destroy, and you...

4 cylinder swap to 5.0 (pilot bearing)

Oh yeah. The diesel was my second guess. I knew it was an early Ranger for sure, but I guess I was thinking of the turbo 2.3 or something in an SVO for some reason. Oh well ... close enough. :D

4 cylinder swap to 5.0 (pilot bearing)

If you're keeping the 4-banger MOTOR, wouldn't this pretty much be a pointless swap? :D I don't have the exact part number right off hand, but I recall the pilot bearing being from a mid-80's Ford Ranger turbo 4-cylinder model, last time I looked.
