Progress Thread The next "big" project for my Cobra - T-top conversion coming soon!

I'm thinking triangulation to resist torsional forces along with lateral bracing. The connector already provides triangulation behind the subframe, so I don't think those would hurt to be 90 degrees to the rocker. Thinking I'd run that front angle as close as I can to the torque box that will be...

Much better drawing than I could do on my phone over the weekend.

Progress Thread The next "big" project for my Cobra - T-top conversion coming soon!

Been thinking of all of this over the weekend, even used @rusty428cj 's pics to help get a visual on layout ideas. I even tried to use AI but it was absolutely useless. :nonono: I believe I'll need to get myself another stick or 2 of 1x1x.12 tube. So far that would be 4 of those and 2 -...

    Build Thread 1978 Mustang I I

Been doing some researching and your car popped up. I forgot that your car is a T top car! I'll be working on something soon that may interest you for yours. Hell, it may interest a lot of II owners. It probably won't help much for your car since you have a cage, but it may interest...

    2001 SVT Cobra Decision Time

Welcome to :SN:!! I agree - replacing the top would be the best thing to give it new life and is really just the cost of admission for owning a vert. Honestly, everything you listed is the price of admission for owning a car for that long. If you're looking at it as an investment - cars are...

Mustang 2 74’ Oil Pan Help

Welcome to :SN: and the group! You'll want to source a Mustang II specific oil pan if you're able, but a front sump isn't necessarily out of the question. Here is some more info in that regard, including the specific part number. You'll also need a set of II specific frame mounts and motor...

What Oil Viscosity for Southern California Car?

As I understand, diesel engine oils aren't a good substitute for gasoline engine oils. Something to do with the detergents if I remember correctly. But I'm with @AeroCoupe - I run 10w40 in the summer months in my older flat tappet 302. I will probably do the same in my roller engine in the...

Progress Thread The next "big" project for my Cobra - T-top conversion coming soon!

Did some measuring and ordered steel. I'll pick it up this weekend but probably won't get started on it right away. I went with .188 instead of .250 flat stock mainly due to cost. It was an additional $50 if I went with it instead and I don't think that the thinner material will sacrifice...

Progress Thread The next "big" project for my Cobra - T-top conversion coming soon!

I've really been thinking of this conversion over the last couple days and how the car will end up being weakened some by it. I think what I'm going to do is try to fabricate some web bracing in addition to the added factory T top bracing. I've got a couple rough sketches of my ideas done and...

    My next project , a 428 build!

Probably wouldn't be an issue structurally, but machining them flat again would ensure the best possible scenario for your new gasket to seal. Atta boy! I mean it's only money, right?! :burnout: Seriously though, I know that feeling. Sometimes that's all we can do when stuff pops up that's...

    My next project , a 428 build!

Funny story - the first time I had my 302 apart I ended up putting all of the rod caps on backward. It took me a minute to figure out why the engine wouldn't spin on the stand before I figured it out. I realize it's not your first build, but it happens to the best of us regardless! It's just one...

Yes you do. I ended up using a breaker bar and socket to twist the spot welded nuts off of the brackets, reinserting the bolts and installing the supplied nuts.

Views vs attendance - check in and share your experience!

I think that one of the main draws here could be that there isn't the general audience that you find over on f-book. So many people jump onto someone's post just to bash. You even get that on YT and other more mainstream outlets. I mean we all have heard it all before, but it [does] get old. At...

Views vs attendance - check in and share your experience!

Understood. I'm [hoping] to draw some more members and, ultimately, more interaction. :) I mean it's fairly well understood that Stangnet is one of the best knowledge resources, especially for Fox cars. Unfortunately f-book is where a lot of people migrated to, though I know not all of us are...

Views vs attendance - check in and share your experience!

I was just looking at the views for my build thread and found that I've now past 34k. The thing I've also noticed is the amount of people posting/replying, which led me down a rabbit hole of looking up the most viewed II threads and this is what I come up with: A lot of the more viewed...

Progress Thread The next "big" project for my Cobra - T-top conversion coming soon!

I've actually thought of trying my hand at a YouTube documentary of the process. I found one other guy that cut the structure apart, but it's a long and bloated video with a lot of unnecessary stuff in it. Seems that most videos are about 10 minutes so I suppose I'd try to edit them down to that...

    Resource Discussion Craigslist Links

I just noticed something about that Handler. It has a replacement steering column - it's a tilt column. From what I remember, tilt wheel wasn't an option for the II. I wonder if the swap is documented somewhere in that paperwork....
