Help me troubleshoot my dash light problem

Glad to hear you got it fixed. My 65 also calls for a SFE-14, but states an SFE-20 with flashers. Hmmm, strange because all the references I searched and found showed the SFE-14 at 1 1/16" and the SFE-20 at 1 1/4". trying to put a square peg in a round hole deal. Do you have...

Help me troubleshoot my dash light problem

First, your welcome. I hope we can figure this thing out. I should have included a basic description of the current path earlier. You are correct about some of it. When you turn the park lamps on the switch power goes through the internal dimmer (the spring would technically be called a...

Help me troubleshoot my dash light problem

With the test light hooked up to the fuse block and the light switch at the parking light position, unplug the Gage cluster, If the test light goes out, the short circuit is in the gage cluster, if not the short is in the blue red wire from the fuse box to the plug. If the short is in the...

Where to wire my electric choke

You should be able to find the red wire that is switched power from the PCM relay. It feeds a lot of EFI components you probably no longer have since you are running a carb. Just use a test light to verify it has 12V switched power.

    Weather Pack Connectors

 I think there was a mix up on the last line of the tool description. I thought the biggest wire on the MSD was a 12 ga. If you don't mind soldering, that would more than make up for a crappy crimp.

    Flashing Fog Lights

Did you have your headlights on too? If so, they would have flickered too. The light switch has a built-in self re-setting circuit breaker and will open when too much current goes through it. Shortly afterward (sometimes less than a second) it cools and closes again giving the flicker effect...

    65 suspsenion help

The best thing to do is to talk to people and possibly go for a ride to see what you think. If you think stock springs are too stiff, you are not going to have much options. Maybe its your shocks, what do you have? I bought 1 inch lower 480 springs which were too low and too stiff, so I ended...

Need help with 66 steering column.

Sorry, I sold my stuff when I converted to a '68 column and short shaft box. If the column you bought has the bearing in it, you can measure the inside diameter of that.

Need help with 66 steering column.

There are no internals. The 65-67 steering box has a long shaft. Your cheapest option would be to modify the long shaft from the original box. Cut the shaft off and interface a double D joint. A bearing/bushing at the end of the column will have to be fabbed. Not sure if a an...

    Help! car won't start

+1 There are cranking problems (battery, starter, cables, solenoid) and there are Ignition problems (Coil, wires, plugs, resistor wire). You need to determine what you have so we can steer you in the right direction. How long does it turn over (Crank)? If it stops cranking, there is no...

    Help! car won't start

Timing, Compression Does it spit, sputter, or backfire out the carb? Bad Gas, Too much gas, or not enough. Disconnect the fuel line at the carb and run it into a coffee can. Make sure you get a good flow of fuel out when cranking.

Battery drained inself??? How do I find out what is pulling the electricty?

Use a Brake light bulb and a socket with some short lengths of wire and some small clips will help. Put it in-line with one of the battery cables. If it lights up, there is something drawing too much current (more than 3 Amps). If you disconnect something and the light goes out, then you have...

    3G Alternator upgrade question

Yes, Solder. I covered mine with heatshrink and it's installed under the dash away from heat and vibration. It should be fine near the alternator too. Just tape it down the the main output cable to keep it secure. Your old regulator wires can be taped off. By the way, IIRC you can use the...

    3G Alternator upgrade question

If the wire is 12V when the ign is on, that should be fine. It doesn't draw a lot of current, it is only used as a "turn-on" signal. Don't forget to use a 500-600ohm resistor in-line with it. Here is a diagram
