question about timing on my 289

Is the balancer from the 289 motor or is it from the motor that was in the car, there are two different places where the timing pointer could be also. I just think you might have something mismatched somewhere in the balancer timing pointer area.

When is it necessary to use a scattershield?

The factory pieces are not approved by either the NHRA or the IHRA they will not pass SFI specs, and the nascar guys certainly are not using a cast piece to hold there stuff together.

Kaase wins Engine Masters, Fords rule again

Totally different animal all together the Kaase heads are a bolt on for 289, 302 and 351W. The CHI heads are a cleveland style head and you would have to do the same mods as if you are bolting a set of cleveland cylinder heads on the 302, 351W which also calls for a custom Intake.

When is it necessary to use a scattershield?

If you ever plan on taking the car to a NHRA or IHRA track you need an SFI approved bellhousing, dont even think of using anything else!! I dont care what it came out of. Lakewood makes a beautiful one just for your application with the tremec.

Kaase wins Engine Masters, Fords rule again

The rules would not allow him because they are a custom type cyl head not a factory type.

Carburetor mount hoist bracket - strong enough?

to position your motor, to position your motor mounts I used a bare block, bolted the trans to it and made a jig that bolts to the front of the block where the timing chain cover bolts to. I used flat stock that would reach each frame rail, then I would set the motor and trans where they needed...

    Sound deadening in a 65

I have used dynomat Xtreme in dozens of cars and I cant say that anyone has been dissapointed. I like the fact of it being peel and stick and you never know it is under the rug and it conforms to almost every nook and cranny. I know it is not cheap but I think the benefits out weigh the cost.
