ford 8 inch? is the power ratting max at 300hp?

Here is how I can say it and I will probably upset alot of people with what I am about to say. Stock 9 inch 28 spline axles in anything other then a car that will be used for the street are weak at best. Put them in a drag application with anything making decent torque (400 ft pounds) slicks...

65-66 guys with 351w swap... got a question

I ran super comps on my 66 and the only thing I had a problem with was the z-bar I just made my own. I also remember hooker saying you had to use a 66 specific motor mount with these headers because clearance is obviously at least horrible

ford 8 inch? is the power ratting max at 300hp?

It is nice that we can disagree on things like this , it gives everyone a chance to make up there own minds. IMO I would not use a stock 28 spline axle in anything I am planning on using at the track. As far as a wives tale 28 spline axles are weak. I have personally seen the splines...

ford 8 inch? is the power ratting max at 300hp?

were you using stock components? cost difference between 8 and 9inch stuff not that different if you are comparing aftermarket to stock components then there is a big difference. IMO I would run a modded 8 before i ran a stock 9 any day A 9 inch with stock 28 spline axles= weak

ford 8 inch? is the power ratting max at 300hp?

If you are talking stock components the 8 inch isnt the strongest but if you use the right parts it can be made to handle some decent horsepower levels. with a good set of aftermarket gears and a good after market diff, and some good axles there is no reason it wont handle 400 horses and one...

Front Disc or Mustang II upgrade THAT IS THE QUESTION

There are quite a bit of mis informed folks on this site and quite opionated. I would also like to see the facts on the stock front suspension being that much better. Just for cruisers and trailer queens tell that to the guys at Martz chassis.

    351w Rod Pins?

I am pretty sure you will know right away because you will most likely do some major damage, on the other hand if you have a foating set up and it does happen to sieze you are less prone to damage. If I am correct the floating set up was designed for racing applications and high rpm durability

    351w Rod Pins?

A floating piston which the rod has a bushing so the pin floats has much less friction. less friction more horsepower. The bushed rod and piston combo also has less side load on the cylinder walls.
