How often do you drive your mustang???

Well for the last 2.5 years, mine has been a recreation vehicle only, if even that. During that time period I put 5000 miles on it. There was a time during that 2.5 yrs, that it went 6 months without being driven or even having the door opened. But that has all changed. This weekend I...

Header stud/ Affecting X-pipe install clearance

You probably do have it. It simple to overcome. Remove the stud and grind off the shoulder. If you do not have a vise or a grinder, then you can use the studs from a Taurus (they do not have the shoulder). I forgot the part number and what year model but i am sure you can search for it. I...

    Fogged/moisture in head/fog lights.

You have to pull the fog light out, then drill holes in the housing. I did this many years ago on mine and have not had a failure yet. I drilled 3 1/8" holes on top and 2 on the bottom near the back. theory is to allow moisture to drain from the bottom and steam to escape from the top. No...

Proof of 13's in a stock '99-'04 Mustang GT

I ran a 13.85 @96 in a stock (well had borrowed slicks) in an 01 auto. I pulled a 1.8~something 60' (do not remember anymore), but I have had many people tell me that it was a "factory freak".

quick question, loctite on spark plugs

What is the "Legal Action" being directed at? The triton series, since they seem to blow them WAY more than others? Never mind, I read your above post and it seems that you are talking the Triton engines. You know I am a Ford lover but it seems very obvious to me that the 4 threads that...

quick question, loctite on spark plugs

I would bet they use Loctite 246 Threadlocker. It is the Hightemp version of blue. Good for ~450 F. I am on the fence about Loctite on the Mustang, but on the Expy ('99, 5.4, which blow plugs like crazy) I will have no problem using it on that.

    Idicator Light

Usually an OD light that is flashing is indicative of a tranny problem. It could be very minor, or it could be a major problem (you can usually tell a major problem before you get the light though). I would scan the code and goto www.tccoa.com and search the forums under "drivetrain" for the...

Loud bang on startup and loud tapping sound from the top of the engine

That is total BS. People use the Timesert, and Bigsert on the 5.4 head all the time due to plug blowout with no ill effects. Even dealerships will install the kit. Of course a manual (especially Ford) would say do not do that, spend 10x more for a new head.

    ODBII testime.......advice please....

Info for you from the EPA website on OBD II testing. This should help you get the monitors set. As a general rule, doing some stop-and-go driving around town at speeds up to about 30 mph followed by five to seven minutes of steady 55 mph highway speed driving will usually set most or all of...

Does anyone have experience with the LoJack system?

State Farm is the same way. My Agent actually cut me the break on insurance, but they consider LoJack, ForceTracker, and others to be Vehicle Recovery Systems and NOT alarms. My agent decided that since I had LoJack and the Factory "Alarm" then he would give me the discount. :D

    pinging after plug change

Checked, double Checked, and checked once more, no leaks. Not sure, but drove the car yesterday to get gas (put 89 in it) and am driving it today with no pinging. The valvetrain is quit again and there is no pings under load. Maybe a bad tank of gas? The weather has warmed back up also, so...
