Yeah, I hope the GT remains V8. With everything I have been reading though, I wouldn't be surprised to see V6 EcoBoost.
I would be surprised however if they replaced the 4.0L with 2.0L EcoBoost, kept the GT a V8 (5.0L) and the Shelby a SC 5.0L/5.4L or 6.2L, all while also offering the...
That was an exciting read. Only a couple things that concern me:
1. Can they build the 3.5L EcoBoost w/out AWD, as that could very well be what the white car is.
2. The white car also could have been a 4 cyl EcoBoost. I don't think they said the white car was the one keeping up with...
It probably would burn a lot of peoples arses, but it could be worse. Think mid 70's - early 80's. Those cars had hardly any horsepower.
The only way I could be happy about a 3.5L EcoBoost GT is if it was AWD. One thing I have noticed is all the current 3.5L EcoBoost models are...
I read some older "material" that said the Fusion would be getting the 3.5L and the 2.0L EcoBoost. Something about a GT model that would be 3.5L EcoBoost, but that was before the Sport came out with the 3.5L (non-EcoBoost).
To be fair, I realized today that I wasn't really comparing apples to apples here. The Fusion is actually the same "size" as the Subaru Legacy, not the Impreza.
A 6 cyl AWD Fusion is about 160 lbs heavier still than the same Legacy. The Focus, however, is 500 lbs lighter than the Impreza...
The votes don't look too bad.
So far:
1. 20% - Don't Give a ****.
2. 50% - Will be running around telling all their buddies about the cool new AWD TT Mustang.
3. 10% - Will be on StangNet b**ching about the new AWD Mustang.
4. 20% - Will be at the dealership signing their life...
Maybe with all this talk about the new Mustang being 4000+ lbs., I could just throw some snow tires on and drive it in the winter. It will be too heavy to slide around.
I wish I would have done this in the beginning, but I just added a pole to this thread. Vote if you haven't already. So far it is %100 "I would consider buying one" (1 of 1).:D
Just reading through the opinions it looks like 5 people like the idea, 3 don't and 3 don't care or are not opposed.
I will probably get in trouble for saying this, but I like the Camaro. I think it is the best Camaro they've had since 1969 (probably get in even more trouble for saying that, lol). Yeah, it's over weight, but the thing is cool looking and it's still quick and for normal driving the over-steer...
Like I said, when I win the lottery...lol.
I wonder if I could get a government grant to build an AWD Mustang and present it to Ford. That could be my "job". Then when I'm done the Mustang could be my "company car". :D
All these cars are 2.4/5L 4 Cyl with Manual. The Fusion is right there in the middle and the Acura TSX is a real fat a**!!
2010 Fusion = 3285
2010 Camry = 3263
2010 Accord = 3230
2010 TSX = 3400
2010 Sonata = 3327
All these cars are 2.4/5L 4 Cyl with Auto. The Ford is not the heaviest and...
Yeah, I know right. The 4 cyl manual is only 3285 lbs though. Add ~300 lbs to that for turbo and other goodies and you are up to ~3600 lbs (about 200 lbs heavier than STI). Not terrible if they can make it about 325hp. :rlaugh:
I think to compete the Fusion would have to be 4 cyl Turbo. The current V6 model is already 500 lbs *corection 408 lbs, not 500* heavier than the STI and has 40 less hp and torque.
The 4 cyl Fusion is only 50 lbs lighter than the STI. It will probably gain some weight going Turbo and...
I see...I guess I was thinking the 2010 GT was only 3300lbs. After reading this and other publications I realize I was wrong. You are right though 300 is still a huge increase (~9%) and 3900 lbs is a heavy sports car.
