    First time stabbing motor

This is a timely post since I'm getting ready to install my engine and transmission soon too. I've been debating on whether it is better to install them as a unit or install the engine and transmission separately. I have a cherry picker and used that to pull them out as one unit but it was a...

    little mustang update

Man, you did a fantastic job. I really love the side scoops you hand crafted. You sculpted them just right and they really fit the lines of the car!

    extended warranty

I didn'y buy the warranty either, especially since Ford upped the standard warranty to 5/50. Transmission choice is purely a personal one, both in preference and in what type of traffic you'll be driving in. I like manual transmissions because I like the way it feels to row the gears and I...

    toploader 4 spd.

rbohm - No problem. I hate it too when people give out bad info; especially when I do it! I was out of town the past few days and just got back to the forum. daddy oth - Top Loaders are indeed great transmissions, easy to rebuild, and just about bullet proof, but it really comes down to how...

    toploader 4 spd.

rbohm - hey, I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong, no need to get condescending. As I said, I'd dig up the old article and verify the facts and follow up. So I was wrong. The article said use a 1967 and up 200 CID six cylinder bell housing, which is what I must have used since I followed...

    toploader 4 spd.

Actually I'm not sure that is quite accurate. I once performed that swap following the 1986 Mustang Monthly article. I believe the six bolt pattern for a 66 I6 is the same six bolt pattern for the 289, which is why the C4 transmission bellhousing is the same for both. But you may be right...

    Distributor installation

How did you install the oil pump shaft? The reason I ask is that I ran into the same problem when I finally figured out that the shaft is installed from the bottom end when th oil pump is installed. The retaining clip is on the end that the distributor connects to and it's purpose is to keep...

    toploader 4 spd.

I did the same swap 20 years ago with my I6 66 3speed Mustang. I read an article in Mustang Monthly (I think May 86 issue, I still have it in my stash somewhere) and it listed the parts and showed how to do it. It was an easy swap. All I had to do was buy a V8 Bellhousing, clutch, pilot...

    Eastwood Rust Encapsulator

I did my cowl vent caps with rust encapsulator and I also installed plastic cowl caps. My old vent caps were completely rusted hrough so I used a cut off wheel and cut them down but left about 1/3" lip, then scraped off and blew out what rust I could get to (I had my fenders off so I was also...

Calling all SSBC disk brake kit owners!

Did you ever get the push rod out of the plunger? I had the same problem so I used a dremel cut off wheel and sliced through the old plunger very carefully. Since it was aluminum it was pretty easy. I didn't want to use the big hammer method for fear of breaking something.

    Eastwood Rust Encapsulator

I used it to spay hidden areas that were never covered in paint or primer, like under the dash, package tray etc... For those areas I used the gray encapsulator because it looks like bare steel. When I look under my dask it looks factory new. I also used it on other areas that I couldn't get...

Which wheels for me? Opinions Appreciated!

+1. I like the polished 18"; they look classy and stand out from the regular 17" on most GTs. I may be biased, I have 18" polished wheels too. But...if had to choose another I would definately go with gashog's suggestion. That tungsten is way hot!

    Differences from '07 to '08?

My 07 GT has dual power and heated seats which were part of an option package. Radio knobs are black.

    shelby gt500 rear bumper Q!

I think the texture is molded into the part. My GT/CS lower sides are textured and even fade to black at the bottom.

I love the blacked out look.

    shelby gt500 rear bumper Q!

Unfortionately no. It is part of the whole rear facia and does not come apart. It's the same one that is in the California Special. I have a CS and the whole thing is one piece. My car is Vista Blue and I can see where the blue paint ends and the black area begins.

    Bellhousing

I ran into this too and it caused me lots of trouble. I had a 66 six cyinder with auto, but it had a 65 six cylinder rebuilt engine in it. I also had an old 66 six cylinder engine that I had bolted a toploder to. It worked great but the car was rusted bad so I decided to change out my...
