It cracked because of the spacer under it. The spacer is softer then the Intake just mated to the lower.
So a lot of people including myself many moons ago over tighten and the ear cracks because it actually crushes the spacer enough to flex it.
Put it in a vice and try to roll the pad down a little with some force
A little fuel leak while testing after Isn’t going to cause some instant fire all you’d have to do is prime the pump a few times before you start it to check for leaks.

I have regular rubber vaccum hose from the parts store. Runs from the back fitting around my intake to my strut tower to my regulator. Just ts off to the blow off valve as well.
Being you have an r already , I think you’re going to pick up hp with the upper only in the way higher rpm range and I’m not sure the juice is worth the squeeze
