    dash board 65 coupe

The dash is welded in place, removal is difficult at best. Only the lower half is seen, (dash pad hides the top) so I would paint it in place. That's what I did on my 65 convert.

Anyone use manual as daily driver?

Wrong. Manuals have a direct mechanical connection between the engine and the wheels, which will always be more efficient. At any gear ratio. Manuals give you the option of burning more gas or less depending on your shifting habits. Also wrong on clutches. If you drive it hard, you will...

Fog light question for the 05

Nice, but they would run the price up.... again..... those things have got to be expensive.

Anyone use manual as daily driver?

Manual vs automatic difference boils down to this: Why should I burn extra gas, increase maintenance costs, give up some of my car control, and make driving less fun.... just to keep from moving my right wrist a few inches every once in a while????????

    personalized car tag ideas

My favorite for convertibles is "SPF 0" or "SPF ZERO". But for a Mustang, how about "SNY PNY" (Sunny Pony)??

Anyone use manual as daily driver?

I use a manual as a daily driver - don't like automatics - no problem. Have lived in high traffic areas (even Baltimore) and low. Where I live now is medium. If you live in heavy traffic area, then you just need to develop different habits, such as putting it in neutral at lights and letting...

    What generation...

On that first generation - only the 6-cylinder shared with Falcon. V-8s shared with Fairlane.

    next generation hwy patrol car?

Oh, and there are BMW patrol cars in South Carolina, too. Gift from the BMW factory here. Full markings. Don't try to outrun one of those in the Interstate, they are German built - built for the Autobahn!!! :o)

    next generation hwy patrol car?

Here in South Carolina they used Mustangs, and now Camaros. Some are unmarked, but most have the exact same markings as the Crown Vis standard patrol cars. The idea of the Mustang and Camaro is NOT to "blend in" (they can do that in one of the many unmarked Crown Vics), but to have a FAST...

Hood scoops and side scoops ????

Agreed. (And of course the "Shelby models" weren't Mustangs, they were Shelbys. As in "Shelby GT-350", never "Mustang GT-350") That's why I feel they should NOT have scoops from the factory. You can always add them, it is not so easy to remove them.

Hood scoops and side scoops ????

He is talking about the chrome quarter panel ornaments on the cheaper versions, I believe. Some people feel they look (I guess a little bit) like scoops. I ordered my early 65 Mustang without them ("Exterior accent group - delete chrome, add pin stripe and rocker panel molding" - $32 if I...

    65 Brake light bezel

Any of the Mustang parts houses have them (yes, it's the bezel). $14.50 is normal. Try virginiamustang.com, npd.com, California Mustang, several others.

07 looks far away, I wish we would have stayed on the fox a few more years.....

It was the 70s when mileage got bad - not 60s. My 289 4V D-code 1965 Mustang got 21 MPG on the highway. Which WAS bad for the day, but not by 70s standards. (The V-8 I traded in got 25.) In the 70s they were putting the first "pollution controls" on cars, and weren't very good at it. I saw...

    2004 vs 2005

I'll admit to prejudice - my first car was a convertible, and I've never liked being without one. There's nothing like the top down and the wind in your hair (what's left of it, in my case!!). And with the top up, there's no real difference except that the convertible has a much lower CG and...

Problems with Ford and new car designs

Fair winds and following seas to you..... now if I could just get the Mustang rebuild done, so I could spend more time on s/v Dreamcatcher!!! :o) Hmmmm... maybe in the garage with the Filly when it's raining, and on the water when it isn't. That could work........ :p

Problems with Ford and new car designs

Excellent posts on quality, guys. Yes, it does cost less to "do it right the first time". Another aspect of higher quality in the factory is that it takes fewer people, because you do not need inspectors just to fix problems, if the employees are empowered (and motivated) to get it right on...

Is there any one supplier we can all trust?

Agreed! I've used Virginia Mustang for many years. They always have people who know what they are talking about, they ship fast, it's always good stuff and nobody beats their prices. So what if there is no 800 number? I call them on my cell phone - so there's no cost to me. 800 numbers cost...

Problems with Ford and new car designs

True!! (I had a brief stint as a quality engineer.) But the funny thing is that American business still haven't discovered the fact that HIGHER QUALITY COSTS LESS. Same with American consumers. They still think they have to pay more for higher quality, which is simply not the case. Higher...
