    Why not leave the bellhousing attached. Drop the tranny, roll it forward into the engine bay area and lift out? Am I missing something.

    I put a towel on the cowl, then a half inch piece of wood on the towel, and then used the claw end of a hammer and slowly pried up. Worked like a charm; off in about 20 seconds per side.
