2005 Ford Mustang GT vs. 2005 Pontiac GTO

I prefer the stang, (big surprise) but I like the idea of competition improving the breed. Let Ford continue the retro styling, and GM can go for the more contemporary look. It wouldn't take much in styling mods to make the gto look really hot. I have always owned stangs instead of camaros...

    I Hate Nyc Cab Drivers!!

I think youse are being a little harsh on the big apple. I lived in manhattan for 8 years and never had a single accident. Oh yeah-I sold my car before I moved there-no car for 8 years, and I didn't even miss it, mainly because I know how much anxiety it causes to own a car in the city. I...

    Very Disappointed, Diguisted, etc....

The Mazda 6 is built by UAW according to a UAW website. I think it is built by the same plant as the stang.

    New Car Check-list

Does anyone have any advice on what to check for when I pick up my new stang? I want to make sure everything is as it should be, but I'm afraid I will just grab the keys and take off w/o doing a thorough check. Also, how much of a walk-thru should I expect from the salesman? Has anyone...

The end of the wait is in sight!

Yes, it is a long wait. I had one available that I passed on a month ago because I had already ordered one w/ deposit. But now that one will be here next Friday--I hope.

    Mustang "Sport"

I agree-I'd like to know what the concept coupe weighed-probably little if any difference, but it looked really nice. I'd love to hear about any tonneau covers for the vert. I've seen some late 60's T-bird verts that had a tonneau cover that turned them into two-seaters? Those looked pretty...

    Mustang "Sport"

Two responses to your 2-seat mustang: 1) go back and take a look at the concept coupe-that was an incredible looking car 2) a bargain-priced; 300 lb lighter track stang avail to the public Maybe an after mkt entrepreneur will not only mod the engine but do some lipo suction to create more...

    Very Disappointed, Diguisted, etc....

EarlB-that's a pretty good gesture to me. You still want your car back, but at least they are trying to make you happy. That would make me a lot more likely to go back to a dealer like that.

    Strut tower brace

Can someone comment on the handling improvement w/ the strut tower brace? Ride/handling tradeoffs?

    Very Disappointed, Diguisted, etc....

Jenn-I see from your link that the Mazda 6 & Toyota Corolla are UAW cars-that's interesting in light of this discussion. This debate on defects/TSB's is potentially endless, but I can tell all the manufacturers how to solve it to the satisfaction of 90% of the owners of their cars. All...

    A deal gone bad!!

You did the right thing, not because you cannot afford an extra $500, but because they changed their agreement. They lied, and yes they will sell the car easily, but at least you took the commission away from the original salesman who made the deal w/ you. Order a tungsten silver 06 w/ the...

'04 Cobra Convertible or '06 GT Convertible?

I have an 05 redfire gt vert on order, but I would definitely consider that cobra except for my height-I'm 6'5", and I know I don't fit. One thing that concerns me about the 05 is all of the first year defects which you wouldn't have to worry about w/ the cobra. And the cobra has the IRS...

    Very Disappointed, Diguisted, etc....

My 84 mustang gt and my 86 gt vert were great cars w/ few problems, and I don't have my 05 yet, so I will withhold judgement. My wife has an 04 honda pilot, which I think is their 1st year of production, and it has had zero/no defects in 7 months. It will be interesting to see what the car...

2005 Mustang GT Stolen from Ford Dealership

I wonder if the local TV news would be interested in this story? I wonder how much that negative publicity would be worth to the dealer?

    Very Disappointed, Diguisted, etc....

How about the Mazda 6? Isn't that being manufactured on the same assembly line as the new stang? I wonder if they have quality issues since the same people on the same line are putting them together.

    Very Disappointed, Diguisted, etc....

I think it is possible to be an "enthusiast" and still be realistic about some of the limitations of the object of your affection-our beloved stang. The jaguar K type from the 60's is now revered as "art", but its reliability issues are legendary. I also believe the excuse of a 1st year...

    Very Disappointed, Diguisted, etc....

Jenn-I agree w/ what you said, and that's why, IMO, we should speak up about quality issues. Ford has a big hit on its hands for the first time in a long time, but after the new wears off, and all of the enthusiasts like us are satisfied what does ford do to attract a broader customer base for...

    2005 Convertible

If you're looking for a quiet ride no vert above 60 mph is a good buy. BTW blue oval, the silver vert is perfect color. I pulled up next to one like yours last week--wow--in person it's a very nice combo--silver w/ contrasting black top.
