    Has Drag Racing Changed?

For me, the local street car heads up classes have cars regularly in the 9s, and next year they're adding a couple street car index classes (might get the red car in on that to keep me entertained till the fox is running). Those are both really just "fun run" things with pretty much just...

    Head Bolts Vs Studs

Studs are more "stable" in a high-pressure (boosted) application, other than that (or clearance issues like in my build) its builders choice. With the 302 you can still get the heads over the studs in the car though that may be a pain with heavy iron heads (arp ones still have a hex drive so...

the tko's problem is the shift rail setup and the stock syncros. the t5 has a simple single rail that doesnt clunk around, and has steel friction-lined cones that the tko simply needs. no idea how the mt82 does it (never had one apart) but the remote shifter and all the linkage for it aint...

im not a big fan of the one in my '12, maybe its more to do with the clutch and shifter, but i liked the t5 in the fox better. the mt just doesnt like to shift clean at higher rpms for me, and forget about any kind of powershift.

i think he's thinking mt-82 like behind the coyotes/s197's remote mount shifter, probably possible but easier options, and if youre thinking what i think youre thinking you can get bells for t5/tko/t56. those chinese transmissions are kinda shtty imo anyway.

    Valve Cover Clearances

I know the tfs covers will clear, but you will need to drill for the oil fill/vent and there's no baffle. Frpp ones (the short/efi-labeled ones) may need a little clearancing on the baffles but otherwise should work fine. The tf heads do have the cover rail raised 1/4" or so above stock so...

All motor. Would have went autolites but apparently they've gone to :poo: the last few years. Though I may add a 50-100hp cheater hit eventually for some grudge racing later on. Just a little something in case I need to pull a miracle off. Motor is NOT built for it though.

    Drivetrain 4r70w Internal Swap

With the hydraulic aod, the input shaft is actually two pieces, an inner and outer, with one being fluid coupled and one direct driven. Going to a "non-locking" converter also means going with a stinger, one-piece input. The 4r (and aode) use a "one-piece" shaft and a clutch inside the...
