    Recap and Update: Okay, this is what I think originally happened when the spark plug/C.O.P. got ejected. When that happened it obviously killed the electrode on the plug, then the COP shorted out either when it hit the fuel rail or when it was bouncing around from all the cylinder air flow...

    plug was whole. Compression test good. Auto; no clutch. Sound is constant. increases in frequency with rpms... (slightly louder) 81k miles on motor.

    So I unplugged each spark plug (one at a time) while the engine was running and the sound didn't change. Then I put a piece of pcv(no hose available) up to my ear and went up and down both valve covers and didn't notice a change in volume. So I'm thinkin' maybe it's a valvetrain or timing...

    stock replacement autolite platinums. Sound doesn't change based on temp. sound only changes with rpm...

    I meant like rod bearing or main bearing knock. It's almost quiet at idle, but you can definitely tell when driving. It's not louder(well, maybe a little) it just gets faster...

    You guys probably remember my engine problem that arose a short time ago. If not here's the cliff notes spark plug ejects. no start condition w/ various codes. replace fuel pump will not idle fuel injector wide open. trip to ford dealer-knock appears. 200.oo bill and no progress...

    Now is as good a time as any, so what stall do you recommend and where do would you buy it from if you wanted it next week? Plus. The car is "stock", but I'm goin 373's in the rear in about a month, Should I have 'em rebuild the 4r70w or jerry mod it ?

    The Dealer near me quoted me the following: 3198.00- Complete Engine Assembly (2000 GT 3yr/36k warranty parts and labor w/ no freight charge) 960.00- 12.8 labor hours for install @ 75.00/hr 4158.00- sub-total 250.00- taxes and shop supplies.. 4308.00- total... Sound like a deal?
