my bro was given 11k for a 00 gt a few months ago. It was pimped out tho. And he paid invoice which is like 32/33k for 04 cobra. So they didn't make it up anywhere.

Yeah, if I were that close, I would pay it off. But in my case, I still had a ways to go, so I traded mine in and haven't regretted it since.

NOOOO, get the 03! That's what im doing, im selling my 01 GT right now with a crap load of mods, then putting that as my down payment and then some. the day the 03 cobra came out and i got to drive one a while back, i have been dreaming about owning one ever since, do it!

And look at my situation, i have a BUILT, FORGED MOTOR. you can't go wrong with the snake, you get what you pay for, do it!

good luck!

If you have a built forged motor in the GT I think you're crazy to get yourself more into debt getting a Cobra.. Rather then getting yourself thousands more into debt, get a nice KB blower and throw some nice boost through it.. And run with Cobras all day w/o being in huge debt..

first of all, I can afford it, yeah I will be in debt, but for not that long. 2nd of all, I have had my car for 3+ years now, even with the numerous suspension mods I have done, the car has wheel hop, creeks, squeeks, minor dings dents, don't wanna deal with putting a blower on there then later having to swap tranny's cause mine fried.

BOTTOM LINE, I want a cobra, always have, and it would be cool to throw a blower and beat vettes, cobra's etc, but a few bolt on's later on a cobra, then what? It's not like im gonna be struggling to put food on the table and not be able to have "spending money" for going out and other goodies, that's not the issue, the issue is I HEART cobra's, therefore I am getting one.

Well, just to play devils advocate and all.. Cobra is still a Mustang, it will creak and squeek as much as your GT.. Wheel hop? IRS anyone? The Cobra is a nice car, but it is a pig IMO... 3600 lbs+.. Sure its easy to mod a Cobra, but cruise SVT Performance and you'll see how many of those motors are failing with pulley swaps and chips..

But you only live once, and do what makes you happy.. Enjoy your Cobra once you get it.. Oh and I'll buy your tokicos...

I'll agree with the getting out of debt line and apply it to what you seem to want the car for .... great 1/4mi times. You already mentioned you want to swap out the rear. That's an investment in time at least, even if you have someone that will straight trade.
You have a significant amount of $$$ invested in the GT and parts waiting???? Definately get the GT paid for, there will be Cobras floating around in a couple of years.

I say pay your GT off and build it in to what you want and get a Cobra at a later date. My recommendation!!

doesn't matter what the trade in value is....he still owes the bank $8,000 +/-

they'll tack that amount onto the cost of the Cobra

His car is worth more than 8 grand, so he will get back more money to pay the bank.

I'd say your upside down about 3 grand.

Im not even close to being upside down on my car!!!!!!!!!!!! upside down means you owe more on the car than it is worth!!! My cars blue book is about 18,000$ as of right now..... I only owe the bank 7,675$ as of yesterday....therefore if i were to sell it i would have a little over 10,000$ in equity....that is not even close to being upside down!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have gotten a cobra in the 1st place but this is the 1st car i have ever bought on my own and thought i should go the lower route incase i had trouble making payments....turns out im acutually paying about 200 more a month ontop of my regular payment rate to get the car payed off faster.....so i can afford 200 more in car payments a month without any problem....im going to test drive a dark shadow gray cobra on monday!! Ill let you guys know if i bring it home or not!
