I've never heard this. However... I have an 06 GT I bought new, and it has 160,000+ troublefree miles on it.
Couple things I know that don't really matter though...
1. Still has the SUCKY 2 piece design Spark Plug - I run 1 piece Champion 7989. Mid 2008 changed plug design.
2. Does not have the TPMS to monitor Tire Pressue. That was added in 07. Some prefer NOT to have it so when they play with tire pressure at tracks it does not bother them.
