alright-

ive been searching the forum and doing some reading. i want to try a set of 1 chambers on my 5.0 car ( currently: mac shorties, x pipe, no cats, 2 chambers ). right now i have mine dumped and i like it.....but i want something a little different. i still have my tailpipes and i would put them back on with the 1 chambers.

ive never heard a 5.0 with them before, anyone with sound clips PLEASE let me know. i like my stuff loud and this is a weekend car anyway...not a daily driver. *i want it loud good...not loud crap*

3 questions:

-does a 1 chamber on a 5.0 sound 'anything' like a 4.6 motor (that sort of raspy higher pitched sound? (which is what i want)

-if i have 2.5" pipe, do i need to order 3" mufflers or 2.5" (cant the muff shop expand the diameter of the pipe...)?

-does anyone have any for sale? anyone have any sound clips?

thanks guys

i found some "knock offs" on ebay. wonder how bad another manufacturer could mess those up? they are just one chamber mufflers....surely they couldnt screw 'em up that bad?

O, i'm sure they could
If you hear the flowmaster sound and you like it, get the flowmasters.
If you get a knockoff more than likely something will sound different and you'll hate it.

Somewhat off topic...but the forum for my daily driver has a video/audio specific forum for people to post links to audio clips of their exhausts @ idle, drive by, dragging, reving, etc and video clips of dragging, dynos, etc.

It would be cool if the forum admins would setup a new forum: 5.0 Media to go along with the present 5.0 Talk and 5.0 Tech.

If any admins see this or anyone who is buds with an admin, they should try it out.

And now back to the topic at hand... Knockoffs generally are cheaper for a reason. Some people claim you pay for the name with exhaust systems. I don't think so. The reason Borla, Bassani, and Magnaflow prices run so much higher is that they use better materials (sorry Flowmaster fans, I do like your sound) such as stainless steel products and often offer lifetime or limited lifetime warranties on their products. The stainless steel was the biggest selling point for my Magnaflows (plus I like the unique sound). So Flowmasters are probably priced about right for what they are. I think buying a cheap, generic knockoff of them is going to result in either product failure or disappointment with the quality, whether it be the sound, mounting, or power ouput.

Loudmouth 1 are similar sound to 1chamber flows, just a little louder I think.

Sounds nice. HID's?

BTW, I am seeing a trend of Mustang owners buying Imprezas as their daily drivers. :D

about what i posted about the knockoffs.....i totally agree with the saying "get what you pay for".

only reason im interested is these is this: the ebay links above (one of them) , the seller claims that flowmasters patton is up and now they can duplicate exactly the same muffler. they also say that these 1 chambers are made in the same factory as the flowmasters.

now, im not sure i believe any of this....just some info

car sounds mean. very mean. i like it

how close does the slp sound to a 1 chamber? very close?

ive never heard them on a mustang but i know a guy wiht a big bloc kchevelle and they sounded badass on his car. i would just go for it and buy them, it'll set you apart from the typical flowmaster stang.... you should check out spintech also, nice and raspy sounds like the car is yelling at WOT

btw- nice #s on your ride 90lx :nice:

thanks man. and i bought myne directly from spintech, took about a week or so but well worth the wait, great quality too. i ordered the pro-streets with flowtubes and hangers welded on and i also got dumps seperate and it ran me like 270 all together i think that was even wiht shipping.

if you like it loud this is the way to go check out spintechmufflers.com
