Hi, I need power steering on my 65. I know this has been done to death probably but could you guys help a new guy out. Ive seen the kits for about a thousand give or take, but I really do not want a divorce over this so... any way to go that is somewhat less expensive?. I can turn a wrench and the Mustang already has the granada discs so what will work? or do I need to bend over and buy the kits.
Thanks. Mike

http://www.rockauto.com
sells the pump for about 100.00,
the pressure hose for about 35.00
The cylinder for about 150.00
The control valve for about 300.00
Then you have to find a frame bracket, the pump mounting brackets and various nuts and bolts.
Looks like the kits are reasonably priced.

don't forget the steering box too...

I have the same issue..my stang is uncontrollable without power steering,..too much power and it's impossible to counter steer a rear slide..

I'm going to the rack and pinion route, no way I'm spending that amount of cash on just another steering box conversion

The box for power steering is different?
Why?

Yea, the hydraulic lines go into it. Power steering conversion is no cheap thing, you essentially have to redo the entire front end

No, the hydraulic lines on an early Mustang go into the control valve. There are no lines on the box. I believe the box is the same for power and manual. The only difference would be the ratio of the box. Are there different ratio boxes?
