Hello,
New guy here. Just got my hands on my first 1965 289 and the fuel gauge and engine temp gauge are not working. I was watching some videos of how to test them and there is something that I was not quite clear on and was wondering if somebody could clear it up for me. I took a light tester and put it on the 90 degree boot to the engine temp and had pulse current. But then I am supposed to be able to test the gauge by grounding the boot. So I connected the one end of the light tester to the inside of the boot and then touched the other end of the tester to the frame. Is this the correct way to do it? The gauge does not sweep like it is supposed to but I am not sure if it is because the gauge is bad or if I am doing something wrong in the way I am testing it. The same thing is happening with the fuel gauge.
