I've got a 8.8 rear end with leaf spring perches. Now need to find the correct shock plates and u-bolts. Not sure what year rear end came out of. Only plates I've seen are custom for 3.5" axle housing but are $130. Ouch! Anyone know a OEM part that will work for this set up?
A 9" for a '67-'70 Mustang had 3.25" axle tubes. If the axle tubes on your 8.8 are 3.5" buy plates which fit a 9" and modify (slot the holes in) the plates to fit the u bolts which fit the axle tubes. The difference between 3.25 and 3.5 is only 1/8 inch of slotting per bolt hole, and will not be noticeable once bolted together, and any strength loss will be negligible.
