The 69 BOSS 302 didn't use them, they were a 1970 item. They were installed on most Ford engines that year, because Bunkie Knudsen wanted to make the top of the engine look more "tidy". I had this straight from a Ford engineer who was there. He though it was beyond silly.
I think those tubes are a great piece and I really like how they clean up the engine compartment. I think that all 5 liter Fords and Mercs from the 80s had tubes similar to that. One thing I don't love about the 5.0 coolant tubes is they are fairly long and require several tight bends in the rubber hoses to the heater core on those cars.
