1970 Mach I FMX Help!

1970 Mustang Mach I with an original FMX transmission... Problem is whenever I put the car into reverse the car goes forward. What would cause this? By the way the car goes forward in 1, 2, and Drive. Help!

Sounds like time to rebuild it, but I'm not an automatic transmission expert. Is it full of fluid ?

Yep its got fluid. Didn't need to hear about a possible rebuild.
Anyone know a good transmission shop in Las Vegas?

The good news is an FMX is tougher than a C-4. So you'll only be doing this once.

is the shifter lever actually moving the tranny into the Reverse position ?

This sounds like a shifter problem or a valve body problem, neither of which would require a rebuild. Rebuilds mostly just replace clutches and rubber seals, so I am not sure you would need one.

I would take it to a competent tranny shop.
