I have recently looking through auto traders and free car books and spotted several 1998 GT mustangs for 10,000. Don't get me wrong I love this year of mustang and this model GT but is it worth it?

Most of these cars I have seen are stock and from anywhere in the range of 60 to 70,000 miles.

Where I live all I see is high priced 98 and 99's, no matter if its GT or V6. For that price could you get a 99 or 00 GT?

In my opinion if is stock it isn't worth that much even if it looks to be in awesome shape. I would pay about $7,000 tops. I have a 1998 for sale in the classified section and am asking more than $10,000, but it has every mod for that year on it. I have way over $20,000 invested. I would say the price should reflect what improvements if any, and the milage and the condition of the car.

I wish i could find one that cheap around here 7,000. wow!! How much more than $10,000. If its not much and you put 20,000 into it than that sounds like a good deal to me. By the way how much HP does it have?

click on the link in my post above, it will take you to the ad. It made 425HP at the wheels on a dyno jet with 430TQ. This car was our baby. A lot of hard work and dedication went into building it. We are selling it because it has not moved much since my husband bought a motorcycle, and it is too nice of a car to be a garage ornament

I agree, you can find Blown 96-98 Cobra for that much.

Honestly if it was in perfect condition I would pay 10K for it, generally mods no matter what they are dont add value.

She sniffs and lets a tear sneak down her cheek
No reasonable offer will be refused. I am not firm on that price, but the lower the price goes...so will the mod list on the car. I can use most of the parts on my 2000GT. It is just a lot of work to disassemble both cars. I am thinking a winter project if it doesn't sell. It goes into the photo ad this week. The car is paid for, so I can hang on to it as long as I need to.

mustangs dont hold their value well. its sad, especially when a co-worker just sold a 95 Integra LS for 9k with 130k on the clock, and i cant even sell my GT with 90k on the clock for 11! then he picked up a prelude for 14k with just under 80k on the clock!

i think somewhere we started lowballing ourselves and it just hurt the community. then you look at the 03/04 cobra and theyre holding value very well, still in the 20-25k range for around 30-50k miles. you know why? the owners know what theyre worth and the buyers will still pay, not to mention theyre still letting them go for around 5k under what a dealership would rape for a 03/04 cobra in lesser condition.
