He should take a trip to Vegas or something. Cause $600 isn't going to do much for a 98 GT.

Seriously, maybe he could get some rear gears installed. (4.10's) Will make it seem quicker/more fun.

You could ask the guys over in the 4.6 liter section: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/4-6l-mustang/

If it's stock, the best mod he could do is swap out the stock 3.27 rear end for a 3.73.

4.6 car i wouldnt go less than 3.90. Probably 4.10.

Also, short of nitrous....600 doesnt do much for any car LOL.

600 bucks, could almost get him a set of wheels.....or....pick one

Tires
Gears
Headers
A decent quality hood, unpainted

There's a million things he "could" buy, but what is he looking for? Performance, Comfort, Looks?

He could buy some exhaust or a new mid-pipe and have it installed.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Get a new shifter if it's a manual. That's always my first mod on a stick car.

Swap out that crappy NPI intake for a late model PI one. Good for 20-25hp at lease. Should just about have enough left over for gears if he can find a mechanically inclined friend that will work for pizza and beer.

He should save some more money. If he doesn't mind used parts, he could probably do PI heads and intake for around $1000-1200.
