I have a starter from a 2.3. Are they the same as the 5.0?

huh?
the 2.3 starter has 3 bolts and the 5.0 starter has 2 ????

mine 2.3 had 2 bolts...stock ford motorcraft, and it bolted right to the 5.0 when i swapped it in

my 2.3 had the A4LD trans, would that matter?

hummm interesting. GO to advanced autoparts web site and see if part numbers are same!

just checked and they show a different starter......I wonder though if the 3 bolt starter (2.3 starter)would work in a 2 bolt application (V-8 application)..........and it just not use that 3rd bolt hole???? anyone have the two that they can compare side by side.......pics?

I have a 93 2.3 auto and installing a 5.0. I had to buy a new starter. I agree that the 2.3 has a 3 bolt starter and the 5.0 takes a 2 bolt starter.
