I'm not one for odd projects, usually, but FWIW I am installing aluminum PBRs from a 2000 Mustang GT onto my '67. Here are two crappy, blurry pics of the mockup:

LMan, I really hope you pull that off.
I'm fortunate that my 67 has front discs, but I've often thought that with the poor availability of original parts, and the high cost of aftermarket systems, that there must be some way to adapt late model stang brakes since they're common as dirt.
Are you utilizing only the calipers, or are you trying to employ the rotor/hub as well?

hmmm, website works for me *shrug* I considered posting the pics but they are bandwidth-intensive.

Just calipers right now. Ive discussed with several the possibility of using 12" Crown Vic rotors and suchlike, but that's another project for another day.

Caliper mounting is pretty simple, couple of brackets welded up and two bushing/spacers. I hope to mount up and test drive tonight, will let you know how it goes.

I'm with Joe, what are we looking at? GT calipers and rotors? I've been contemplating doing this myself since the GT stuff is so plentiful. It'd be way cheaper than the Cobra brake upgrade.

V6 and GT brakes are exactly the same for those years (99-04). they may even be the same for 94-98 as well.

they'll fit in a 15" wheel.

Hm, sorry about the 'transfer limit', shows how ignorant I am about Intardnet things.

Yes, they clear a 15" with room to spare. Bolted it all up yesterday and went for a drive.....and it stopped when I wanted it to

In all, the calipers were 60.00 (Loaded, used) and 4 bolts from McMaster, plus one evening of machining 2 spacers and 2 brackets. Hoses = 17.00

So, works well, and the polished aluminum PBRs look better than cast iron!

So are you thinking of making the plans (or parts) available to us "less ingenious"?
I may go ahead and replace my calipers while I'm up on jackstands.

I'm assuming those aren't your stock spindles, are they Granadas or later Mustang units?

Someone posted this in the past using late model calipers and rotors (not the cobra units) but required a simple L bracket to mount the late model calipers to the spindle. For the life of me i cannot find the website though. I think they used Granada spindles on the conversion.

Are those stock '67 spindles?
I have a set of '02 calipers mounted to some Granada spindles. I tried to take pics (with my dual rate springs) but they came out crappy and blurry too, go figure

Yes, that page gave me the idea. But the schematic there was waaaay off when I did some mockups (I have '70 disc brake spindles). So I rolled my own mockups in 1/8" angle and got a machinist buddy to do the final product in 1/4" plate with gussets. Not difficult once the dimensions are correct.

The other adv I like is that now all aftermarket performance pads for the 99-04 Mustang calipers will fit and are much less expensive than the relatively few options for stock '67 or '68 brakes. PFZs are now just an AutoZone trip away

I plan on running these at Road Atlanta in a few weeks, I'll let yall know how they did on the track
