I have a 2001 GT and I've been seeing that some aftermarket stuff fits the 2001 second half and newer and 99 to first half of 2001. Is there a way i can find out which one I have, and also what are some of the differences in the 2001 first half gt's and 2001 2nd half gt's?

Check your driver's door jamb, if it has a "K" under transmission it means you have a T3650 transmission and I believe all the other stuff is changed too. The pulleys and upper intake are different. I also think the MAF may have changed...

Doubt any of that makes a real difference in being "better" except maybe the TR-3650. But with the problems people have with them you coulkd argue that too.

Not really. Oh, the compression changed a little in 01 also... Somehow you can tell from the VIN but I don't remember what was what.

My personal preference would be to find one of the earlier 2001's. They still had the T45 gearbox in 'em, which is less-problematic box than the 3650, IMO

Well from 00 to 01 there were quite a few changes. Not things that are obvious (maybe except for driving a T-3650 in really cold weather)

00......................................................01
Windsor engine....................................Romeo
T45 tranny........................................T3650
...........................................Water pump and pulley change
IAT and MAF sensor separate..............MAF and IAT combined
(GT) V6 style hood and sidescoops................new sidescoops, hood scoop, new wing
.....................................................Bullitt wheels (on Premium GTs. 99% of them are Premiums anyway)

The main differences in the two engines are the bolt patterns for the valve covers and the compression ratios.

Is there any change in performance between the two engines and what CR does the 99-01 have vrs the 01-04s.And also, did ford make any changes to the 04s in the underrated performance department just for the heck of it being the last of that body style and the 40th ed?I have heard the the newer 01+s are a little underated and are really at 275HP or so,so I was just wondering if this was true.

You are one of the very, very few who have an 01 and Windsor block, infact, I'd say I can't believe you unless you have seen the W stamped on your block!

My 8th digit on V.I.N. is "X", which according to Ford racing, means I have windsor block. Mine is made 09/15/00 BTW. One of really early 01
where would stamp on block be? I would like to check it out for sure

Don't trust a Vin letter/number, mine was built in 11/00 and I have a Romeo, infact Kurgan has a 9/00 I beleive and his is a romeo too. The W is stamped on the driverside above the oil pan. Do a search on here (waaayyy back) TJM01 took a pic of it.
