Is this a good deal? I live about 10 miles from this dealership and I can finance this with 10k down, but I've got some questions.
1-would you also buy 3 yr dealership warranty for $1300?

2-I went to see it and the bumper # badge is not there, but it is a real saleen because I gave the vin to saleen for verification. DOes this bring the value down? and can I talk the dealership to lower the cost due to it?

3-all in all is it a good deal?

thanks..

Hey guys MINERALGRAY2002 just did me a favor and ran a carfax for me. SOmething in this carfax report is bothering me, it says it was sold as a fleet vehicle at an auction on 6/30/2006. does this mean it was a rental car? how can I dig deeper?

i wouldnt sweat it at all. It is real, the bumper number is merely a decal, about $10 shipped from saleen gets yout hat. The big thing is the fact the dash and engine bay plaques are in place. Even if its real, it takes forever to receiver replacements from saleen. The deal on the car is not a bad one, but its not a great one either. Your always going to pay more at a dealership, and they cant really tell you the history of a car like a regular seller can. Personally, spend 25k on an 03 or 04 as they have a vastly superior supercharger.

It really depends what your after. If you want a car with great looks and will be happy with 400 rwhp get a saleen. If you are wanting ALOT of power for a bargain price find yourself an 03/04 cobra with low miles and mod the hell out of it.Once you get over 400rwhp with the saleen it starts to cost too much.

the only difference really is the supercharger. the pre 03's have a eaton which is garbage, the 03/04's have a whipple blower which makes more power and is far more efficient

right, also the 04 saleen is a 6 speed if I'm not mistaken right? I know the cobra can be moded but nothing looks like a saleen mustang. I like the body of the 200-2004 but if i can get a 6speed and a better supercharger on an 03 or 04 then that's the way I'll go. Thanks guys, when I get it I'll post pics, in the meantime keep them comming

no. I don't have a 6spd in my '04. Only the Saleen Extreme 281s got the 6 speed and a larger supercharger. I do have the center exit Magnaflow exaust though which is AWESOME.

Yeah, only the Extreme and Cobra Saleens came with a 6-speed. My '04 S/C has the regular GT 5-speed tranny. The 03/04 Supercharged Saleens came with a Whipple 1600AX, the Extreme came with a 2300AX (among many other things). I was told by my salesman that the '04 supercharged Saleens came with the center exit exhaust, upgraded "Extreme" rear wing, and composite hood as standard options (not sure if that is the same for the '03 s/c cars).

As previously stated, I'd opt for a 2003-04 s/c Saleen over earlier years. The Cobra is nice and makes more power, but we all know that debate and it comes down to personal preference...so I won't go there.

I will def go with a saleen sc. I think i found an extreme 2004 6 speed, which is why I assumed all saleen s came with a 6 speed after 03.
here's the car: http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/d...hmannblasius&car_id=209116607&dealer_id=83512

Hey Racer in Boston, the second Convertible that you posted with the Six-Speed Tranny is Not an E-Car! Someone could have dropped the six speed tanny in or special ordered it with the Six Speed! E-Cars came with The Lover Vented Hood, Recaro Saleen Seats & Saleen Alcon 13" Brakes up front (Some with the 14" Upgrade) along with some other stuff. Anyways that car is missing those items at the very least from the pictures! The price seems to High for that car! We could find you a better deal then that one! I've seen an E-Coupe sell for as low as 26,000 and a Convertible 28,000 both cars I passed up and both cars had under 15,000 Miles! You just have to be patient, know what you want (Looks Like White might be what you fancy here, you would get along great with Marcus & The Big Guy, Robert!) Keep searching high & Low, kinda like Marcus does! Theres deals out there on the 99 to 2004 Saleens, All Saleens even the 2005's have come down in Price, If you need help Just let us know what exactly your heart desires and I bet alot of us on here would do some searching!! Todd

Weird, that second car I posted, even has the borla magnaflow exhaust in the in the middle of the bumper, 6 speed too, they must have gone through lots of trouble. I was going to call saleen with the vin just to make sure, but if you guys think i'ts too expensive then I will go with what you guys say.

You guys I swear I was just moved by the brotherly love you guys always show and have shown me since I joined in 2002. I do like white and a drop top is so nice, I'd like an sc saleen and if I can get an "E" it would even be my driem car. I don't have much cash, I do have 5k in cash and really good credit, and currrently was given a capital 1 $25k check to use toward a car (saleen in my case).
PLease keep me updated and if you guys can help I would really be greatful.

Wow Gonen, I must say, I certainly haven't seen anything even close to that ballpark. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

I've been looking for an E for almost a year and I haven't found a single car below 30k.

The lowest I ever saw was a black E coupe in NorCal that said it had 15k on the clock but ran like it has 100,000.

He was asking $30k and that was rock bottom.

If you have links to those 26k-28k E cars, I'm "extremely" interested (no pun intended). Thanks.

Regarding Racer's questions:
If you are counting every penny, you may want to consider buying the 02 and saving a few grand (you still have to pay for tax, registration and all that). If you can spare the change, the 04 is the way to go. You get the center pipes, better blower, e wing.... (it's all been said already). But the big plus in my opinion is if you plan on selling the car in a couple years. After all, the later the model, the better the resale generally. Try selling an 02 in 2008-2009 and see what kinda offers you get...(unless you keep the vehicle pristine with low miles, but where's the fun in that?)

Overall, I think as long as you are spending in the $25-$30k ballpark and it is exactly what you like, who cares. Local cars are also huge plus. I had to fly from Cali to Jersery to buy my SC. It was the only car I could find with the exact color & options I wanted. I must have blown 3 grand on hotel, air, train transport, tow truck.....you gotta factor that stuff.

Anyways, good luck!

better idea racer = get a loan, buy a n/a saleen, and put an 8psi intercooled KB blower on it. It will make more rwhp then a stock E, be more efficient, just as reliable as a regular saleen. Might give you a win/win situation
