Hello community!
I am in a fix. looking forward to buy a 2004 40th anniversary edition mustang. It has 159k miles on it. I am not worried about the price as its fair. I am wondering whether if its a good reliable buy. Will the car run good with no major troubles or breakdowns for an year or so?

Welcome to stangnet.

I'll move your thread over to our '96-'04 general talk subforum. The guys there can tell you about the car better than I can.

As with any car the type of car it had during it's life matters more than the mileage. I've seen 50k mile cars beat to hell and other with 150k that you'd never know it.

These cars are notoriously tough but do need to be properly maintained. Look for signs of fluid leaks, listen for rubbing, creaking, etc noises and if you're not confident in your own skills, take it to a mechanic you trust to get another set of eyes on it.

150k would not scare me if the car was clean. I owned a 130k mile 03 gt that was as clean as my 20k mile 04 gt I purchased way back in 05. (no the 04 was not ragged out lol).
